World gold price today
World gold prices fell, with spot gold down $15 to $3,343.9 an ounce. Gold futures last traded at $3,346.1 an ounce, down $19.8 from early this morning.
Gold prices fell slightly in the first trading session of the week due to reduced demand for shelter after US President Donald Trump said he would postpone the deadline for imposing 50% tariffs on goods from Europe to July 9 instead of June 1 as previously warned.
The modest decline was due to President Trump's decision to delay higher tariffs on the EU, according to UBS analyst Giovanni Staunovo.
Last week, gold posted its best week in six, after President Donald Trump renewed his threat to impose tariffs on EU goods and said he was considering a 25% tax on any Apple products sold in the US that are not made in the country.
Meanwhile, data showed China's net gold imports doubled in April from March and were the highest since March 2024.
Citi on Sunday raised its zero- to three-month gold price target to $3,500 an ounce from $3,150 an ounce amid U.S. tariffs, geopolitical risks and U.S. budget concerns. The bank expects gold prices to stabilize between $3,100 an ounce and $3,500 an ounce.
With the domestic gold bar price falling sharply and the world gold price listed at Kitco at 3,343.9 USD/ounce (equivalent to about 105.2 million VND/tael converted according to Vietcombank exchange rate, excluding taxes and fees), the difference between the domestic and world gold prices is about 13.8 million VND/tael.
