Supervise the implementation of policies and laws on tourism development in Do Son district.
(Haiphong.gov.vn) - On the morning of August 28, the Thematic Supervision Delegation of the City People's Council led by Mr. Bui Duc Quang, Vice Chairman of the City People's Council, supervised the implementation of policies and laws on tourism development in Do Son district. Also attending were leaders of the City People's Council Committees; leaders of relevant departments and branches.
According to the report of Do Son District People's Committee, from 2020 to now, the number of tourists to Do Son has increased rapidly over the years (except for 2021 when it decreased due to the Covid-19 pandemic), especially in 2023, it reached 2.950 million visitors; in the first 6 months of 2024, it reached 2.326 million visitors; revenue from accommodation and food services increased from 1,200 billion VND in 2020 to 2,650 billion VND in 2023 and is expected to reach more than 3,000 billion VND in 2024. Sea and island tourism is Do Son's strength, notably Doi Rong International Tourist Area; Hon Dau International Tourist Area. Do Son District identifies tourism as a key economic sector and mobilizes all investment resources, exploiting potentials and advantages, with the goal of building Do Son District into a modern, smart coastal tourism city, a tourist center of the country and the world.
However, Do Son tourism still faces many difficulties, limitations, shortcomings, and inefficiencies that are not commensurate with its potential. Do Son District proposed that the Government continue to direct ministries and branches to transfer ineffective and abandoned nursing centers and hotels in the area to the city for management, creating land funds for tourism development. At the same time, it proposed that the city increase the entrance fee to the national scenic spot Hon Dau Island; support Do Son District in planning and developing sea and island resort tourism products; tourism products associated with entertainment services; develop policies to support businesses and train human resources to serve international visitors. At the same time, it proposed that the city pay attention to investing in projects to renovate, treat wastewater, waste, and sea dyke systems in the tourist area.
The members of the monitoring delegation requested Do Son district to clarify the reasons why Do Son tourism development is not commensurate with its potential and position; not really sustainable; whether the goal of becoming a national tourist area is feasible; State management; promotion; connection; building tourism products; building tourism culture; people's awareness; why many tourism projects are slow; the rate of receiving international visitors...
After listening to the reports and opinions of the members of the Supervisory Delegation, Vice Chairman of the City People's Council Bui Duc Quang highly appreciated Do Son district for its many solutions to exploit the potential and advantages of tourism development; agreed with the proposals and recommendations of the district. The Vice Chairman of the City People's Council emphasized that through the supervision, the picture of Do Son tourism, its strengths and weaknesses were clearly seen; at the same time, he requested Do Son district to absorb the opinions at the supervision meeting and complete the report to send to the Supervisory Delegation. In addition, the district needs to further strengthen coordination with the city's branches to jointly solve the district's tourism development issues; be more determined and drastic in implementing the set tourism development goals; enhance the responsibility of Party committees and authorities; build tourism products; promote the image of Do Son and Hai Phong tourism to attract tourists. The Supervisory Delegation noted the proposals and recommendations of the district and reported to the Standing Committee of the City Party Committee, People's Council, and People's Committee to jointly resolve and resolve them./.
