In addition, theeducation sector continues to mobilize social resources to invest and improve the quality of teaching and learning. However, the major difficulty at present is the shortage of teachers. Through review, the whole sector is currently lacking 1,009 teachers at all levels.
To meet new requirements, the industry has researched and absorbed new regulations from the Central Government, such as: organizing 2 sessions/day, implementing boarding school for students in disadvantaged areas, exempting and reducing tuition fees... These are contents associated with major policies, requiring effective mobilization of resources.
“The Department of Education and Training is reviewing the facilities to ensure teaching and learning are organized according to national school standards; at the same time, it is advising on the rearrangement of surplus premises to be used as school locations. In the context of free tuition for all and changes in population policies, the student population in the coming time will have major fluctuations,” Mr. Tan warned.
Mr. Tan proposed that the city continue to pay attention and invest adequately so that the education sector can maintain quality and meet development requirements when Hue becomes a centrally-governed city.
Regarding the tourism industry, Ms. Tran Thi Hoai Tram, Director of the Department of Tourism, said: In the first 6 months of 2025, Hue tourism had impressive growth, with a sharp increase in the number of visitors. Many new tourism products were introduced, contributing to enhancing the position and image of Hue on the national tourism map.
Tourism product development activities are linked to major cultural events and festivals; at the same time, the city also promotes the development of eco-tourism and agricultural tourism in traditional craft villages. The experiential tours are considered attractive and attract a large number of tourists.
Regarding infrastructure, there are currently two new accommodation projects in operation in the area, bringing the total number of rooms in the city to about 24,000. However, Ms. Tram also acknowledged that the infrastructure system still has many limitations, lacking large investors, large-scale projects and international brands.
In the last 6 months of the year, the tourism industry will focus on effectively organizing activities under the National Tourism Year 2025 and major festivals; at the same time, continue to promote Hue as an attractive, modern and unique destination.

The Department of Tourism is working with partners to promote the expansion of international flights to Hue, especially via Phu Bai International Airport. Promotion and initial implementation have been carefully prepared.
Speaking at the meeting, Party Central Committee member, City Party Committee Secretary, Head of the National Assembly Delegation, and City People's Council Chairman Le Truong Luu noted that the education sector needs to pay more attention to the process of improving IT and foreign language skills for students. "It is necessary to link education development with the story of streamlining the apparatus and improving management efficiency," Mr. Luu emphasized.
Regarding the tourism industry, Mr. Le Truong Luu suggested that the industry needs to develop new products, especially spiritual tourism and golf tourism - two types of tourism that have great potential but have not been effectively exploited. According to Mr. Luu, Hue is suitable for developing spiritual tourism associated with local culture. In addition, with infrastructure gradually being completed, it is necessary to call for strong investment in golf tourism to attract high-end customers, contributing to diversifying the market and improving the competitiveness of Hue tourism.
Tomorrow morning (July 17), the discussion on the socio-economic situation will continue. In particular, the City People's Council will conduct a question and answer session before closing the session.
