The Ho Chi Minh City Department of Education and Training has just issued a plan to conduct a survey on the English proficiency of civil servants and public employees in the city'seducation sector. Accordingly, the department will conduct a survey on the English proficiency of teachers teaching at public primary, secondary and high schools.
Teachers will take an online survey in the form of an objective test, lasting 90 minutes at: https://englishsurvey.hcm.edu.vn. The Department will organize the survey in shifts for each district from April 23 to 29.
The content of the English proficiency test is designed and standardized by Cambridge Assessment English, ensuring objectivity, science and high reliability in assessing teachers' English proficiency. It includes listening, reading and writing skills to assess English proficiency according to the European standard reference framework CEFR (from A1 to C2).
According to the leader of the Ho Chi Minh City Department of Education and Training, the survey of teachers' English proficiency aims to synthesize basic data for the department to develop programs and plans to foster foreign language proficiency in a systematic, focused and key manner; in line with the orientation of developing the teaching staff according to a clear roadmap.
At the same time, create conditions for the teaching staff, especially teachers in charge of subjects other than English, to have the capacity to use English in professional activities, integrated teaching and support students to access knowledge in foreign languages. Thereby, gradually forming a bilingual learning environment, contributing to improving the quality of teaching and learning foreign languages in schools. This will also be one of the bases for the Department to develop a project to gradually make English the second language in schools.
