With the culinary culture of the Thai ethnic group in Son La, smoked meat and fish products, and sausages are popular specialties. Many production facilities in the city are interested in and perfecting the production process to ensure food hygiene and safety, upgrading them to become special OCOP products. The city currently has 12/20 OCOP products with 3 stars or more that are smoked products, including: Smoked buffalo meat and Hoa Xuan sausages of Tong Thi Hoa business household, Lau village, Chieng Le ward; Thanh Phuong dried humpback carp and dried buffalo meat of Thanh Phuong Company Limited, Group 8, Quyet Thang ward; Smoked buffalo meat, smoked pork and Kim Tien Phat smoked sausages of Kim Tien Phat Cooperative, Me Ban village, Chieng Coi ward; Smoked buffalo meat, smoked pork, smoked Chinese sausages, smoked beef and smoked pork belly of Nguyen Thi Mai Quynh business household, Group 2, Quyet Thang ward.
Smoked buffalo meat of Tong Thi Hoa business household has affirmed the quality of OCOP products for nearly 10 years and has been upgraded from 3-star OCOP product to 4-star since 2023. Ms. Hoa shared: Smoked buffalo meat is a traditional dish of the Thai ethnic group. I not only preserve the inherent traditional flavor, but also focus on investing in innovation, improving production technology, increasing product value, contributing to promoting the culture of the Thai ethnic group in Son La .
Production and packaging of cham cheo products of ABC Tay Bac Joint Stock Company, Ka Lap village, Chieng Ngan commune
Cham cheo is one of the typical spices of the Thai ethnic group in Son La, and is increasingly being accepted by customers. Typical examples are Lam Oanh Cham cheo of Cat Thi Oanh business household, Group 8, To Hieu ward; Cham cheo of Son La Agricultural Cooperative, Chieng Den commune, which has achieved 3-star OCOP product. ABC Tay Bac Joint Stock Company is developing a "Cham cheo" product to achieve 3-star OCOP certification in 2025.
Mr. Ho Van Tam, Director of ABC Tay Bac Joint Stock Company, Ka Lap village, Chieng Ngan commune, shared: The family has been producing and selling Cham Cheo since 2022. After 3 years of focusing on building the brand, promoting the product, and listening to customer feedback to adjust and improve the product, the company's Cham Cheo has been trusted by many customers, with a consumption output of about 15,000 - 20,000 bottles/month. Currently, the company is building the brand and aiming to achieve OCOP certification by 2025.
Specialty coffee of Bich Thao Coffee Cooperative, Hua La Commune, City is recognized as the only 5-star OCOP in the province.
Son La City has more and more products that are affirming their position in the market and making an important contribution to the socio -economic development of the locality, such as: Pure ground coffee of Bich Thao Coffee Cooperative, pickled apricot juice of Chieng Set Agricultural Cooperative, Ho Sam honey... Cooperatives and production households not only create quality products, meeting market demand, but also contribute to creating regular jobs for dozens of local workers, increasing income, and improving people's lives. At the same time, each agricultural product is a "cultural ambassador" containing the quintessence and identity of this land. The city will continue to accompany production entities, develop business of local products, enriching the city's OCOP products in the future.
