Chu Dau Ceramic introduces traditional Vietnamese beauty at ABAC conference, expands international cooperation and enhances the value of Vietnamese ceramic brand
On July 16, the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism of Hai Phong city organized a tour of Chu Dau pottery village for 80 international guests who are the wives and husbands of delegates attending the session.
This is a meaningful event on the sidelines of the 3rd Meeting of the APEC Business Advisory Council (ABAC 3) taking place from July 15-18 in Hai Phong to introduce a traditional profession with a long history and rich Vietnamese cultural identity.
During the tour, international delegates learned about the production process, visited the exhibition area and directly experienced painting on ceramics.
Ms. Amy Chien, from Taiwan (China), attentively followed each step of the artisans and asked many questions to the tour guide. She expressed: “I love and am impressed with the ceramic products here. Witnessing the steps of creating the products, and being able to paint on the ceramics myself, I am very interested and impressed with Vietnamese ceramic making techniques.”
Some international delegates expressed their desire to cooperate with Vietnamese enterprises in this field.
Ms. Amy Chien added: “In the future, I may develop an investment plan or propose to the Government policies to increase the volume of Vietnamese ceramic products in general and Chu Dau ceramic products in particular to the Taipei, Taiwan (China) market.”
Mr. Don Russell, a delegate from Australia, shared: “I am not only impressed with Hai Phong's preservation of traditional pottery, but also appreciate the efforts to restore and develop the craft to increase income for local people.”
Appreciating the program organized by Hai Phong city, Mr. Don Russell emphasized: “The trip helped us understand more about the unique culture of Vietnam and Hai Phong culture. This is a very meaningful activity in strengthening the cooperative relationship between Vietnam and international partners.”
Mr. Nguyen Huu Thuc, General Director of Chu Dau Ceramic Company, said: "To restore and develop the ancient ceramic line imbued with Vietnamese cultural identity, the enterprise pays special attention to the human factor. We identify the artisan team as the core foundation, so we always have good remuneration policies to allow them to freely create and contribute ideas for product development. Along with preserving tradition, the enterprise also actively participates in trade promotion fairs, strongly promoting Chu Dau ceramic lines domestically and internationally."
Welcoming international guests on the sidelines of the ABAC 3 Meeting is a great honor for the company. This is also an opportunity to promote Vietnamese cultural values to international friends, making Chu Dau ceramics one of the typical cultural brands in the integration process.
With the large-scale investment promotion orientation that Hai Phong is implementing, business representatives expect to have more opportunities to participate in the global playground, spreading the value of Chu Dau ceramics as a cultural ambassador of Vietnam in international exchanges.
Chu Dau pottery is a high-class ancient pottery line that flourished from the 14th to 17th centuries in Chu Dau village, on the left bank of the Thai Binh River, Thai Tan commune, Nam Sach district, Hai Duong province (old), now in Thai Tan commune, Hai Phong city.
Historically, Chu Dau ceramics have been exported to many countries, contributing to the fame of Vietnamese culture on the world ceramic map.
After centuries of decline, since 2001, this precious ceramic line has been successfully restored and strongly developed by Chu Dau Ceramic Joint Stock Company, a member of BRG Group.
Chu Dau pottery is completely handcrafted through five main stages: clay preparation, shaping, pattern decoration, glazing and firing.
Natural ancient glazes such as jade glaze, crackle glaze, clear white glaze combined with traditional motifs such as lotus, dragon, phoenix, carp transforming into dragon, calligraphy... create a unique beauty for each product.
Currently, Chu Dau ceramic products are present in more than 30 countries, displayed in many major museums around the world and selected as high-class diplomatic gifts from Vietnam./.
