Contributing to ensuring urban order.

The deployment of public parking lots with automated fee collection is gradually proving effective in many urban areas, including the central wards of Dong Nai province, contributing to reducing the problem of indiscriminate parking and encroachment on roads and sidewalks.

Not only does this model help manage vehicles transparently and conveniently, but it is also considered an important solution in restoring urban order and aiming to build a civilized and modern traffic environment when Dong Nai becomes a centrally-governed city.

Public parking lots are proving effective.

On major roads with high traffic density, many public parking lots have been put into operation, contributing to gradually restoring urban order, especially in densely populated areas, commercial centers, and schools. Among these, some paid parking lots that combine technology applications are proving to be remarkably effective.

At the intersection of Cach Mang Thang Tam and Vo Thi Sau streets (Tran Bien ward), a well-organized paid public parking area with clearly marked lines facilitates convenient parking for residents entering the ward's central area. Similarly, a paid parking area near Bien Hung Park (Hung Dao Vuong street) serves the parking needs of people visiting for recreation, exercise, and activities in the central area. During peak hours in the afternoon and evening, a large number of vehicles flock to this area. On average, the parking lot receives dozens of vehicles daily, mostly private cars, catering to the parking needs of people visiting for recreation and exercise. The centralized parking arrangement here has helped to reduce the widespread parking on sidewalks and roadsides that was common before.

Mr. Tran Quang Long (from Tran Bien ward) said: “Previously, every time I picked up my child from school, I had to park my car right at the roadside, which was often very dangerous due to the crowding. Now there is a parking lot, and I only have to pay 10,000 VND per car and 20,000 VND per car for overnight parking, but in return it is safer, I don't get reprimanded or cause traffic obstruction.”

On Route 30-4, an area with many schools, temporary parking lots have been set up near schools such as Ngo Quyen High School, Tran Hung Dao Junior High School, and Trinh Hoai Duc Primary School, significantly assisting parents in dropping off and picking up their children. During peak hours, many parents choose to park in designated areas instead of parking haphazardly on the road as before, thereby reducing local traffic congestion.

Not only in school areas, but also along Phan Trung Street – considered the " food street" in Tam Hiep ward – the arrangement of parking lots contributes to making it more convenient for residents and diners to park their vehicles. As a result, the problem of indiscriminate parking in front of eateries and restaurants is gradually being reduced, making the street less congested in the evenings.

Ms. Nguyen Hai Linh (from Tam Hiep ward) shared: "Having a parking lot is very convenient. For just a few tens of thousands of dong, we can freely take our family out to eat along the route without worrying about being fined for illegal parking. If everyone used the parking lot, the roads would be tidier, contributing to traffic safety and urban aesthetics."

The model needs to be replicated.

Mr. Duong Tan Huu, Deputy Director of the Public Service Management Board of Tran Bien Ward, said: The collection of fees at public parking lots not only aims to ensure proper vehicle parking but also to generate funds for infrastructure maintenance and repair, marking lines, installing signage, and maintaining stable operation of the parking lots. This contributes to improving service quality and creating convenience for people using the facilities.

According to observations in Tran Bien ward, automated parking lots in the area currently serve an average of over 30 vehicles per day, depending on location and time. Parking lots along Phan Trung street can handle over 50 cars on weekends or during peak hours. The demand for overnight parking has also increased, especially for cars in densely populated residential areas.

In addition, authorities are also stepping up inspections and taking action against illegal parking, especially in areas with designated public parking lots, in order to encourage people to park their vehicles in the designated areas. This contributes to restoring urban order, ensuring traffic safety, and improving urban aesthetics in the area.

In addition, the authorities in the central wards have focused on raising public awareness about using parking lots in accordance with regulations, contributing to the sustainable restoration of urban order.

From the perspective of the people, many opinions expressed agreement and a desire for the continued expansion of public parking lots. Mr. Nguyen Cong Tuyen (from Bien Hoa ward) shared: “Currently, many cars are parked overnight on sidewalks and roads in streets and residential areas, which not only detracts from urban aesthetics but also poses a risk of collisions. If there are more paid public parking lots, people will have a safer place to park overnight, reducing the problem of illegal parking.”

Sharing the same view, Ms. Vu Tuong Van (from Tam Hiep ward) said: Developing public parking lots is necessary in the context of the increasing number of private vehicles. Many streets are packed with parked cars on both sides at night, making traffic very difficult. If there are more centralized parking lots, people will have a better option, ensuring the safety of their property while also making the streets more open and orderly.
