Online deposit interest rates for 1-5 month terms at Saigonbank decreased by 0.1 percentage points to 3.3%/year. 2-month term is 3.4%/year, 3-month term is 3.5%/year, 4-month term is 3.7%/year and 5-month term is 3.9%/year.
For deposits from 6-11 months, Saigonbank adjusted down 0.3 percentage points. The 6-month term is now 4.9%/year, the 7-8 month term is 5%/year, the 9-10 month term is 5.1%/year and the 11 month term is 5.2%/year.
Saigonbank reduced the 12- and 13-month term deposit interest rates by 0.2 percentage points to 5.4% and 5.8% per year, respectively. Currently, Saigonbank's highest interest rate is 5.8% per year for 13-month term deposits. The bank maintains the interest rate of 5.6% per year for term deposits from 18-36 months.
Although deposit interest rates have dropped to an unprecedented low, banks are still trying to attract deposits with different "tricks".
Some banks offer interest rate promotions to customers on their birthdays, such as Eximbank. Meanwhile, some banks are still applying the policy of giving additional interest rates to VIP customers.
At ACB , the 13-month term interest rate is currently 4.6%/year, almost the lowest in the market. However, for amounts of VND200 billion or more, the interest rate increases to 5.6%/year.
At HDBank , the interest rates at the counter for 12 and 13 month terms are 5.7% and 5.9% per year, respectively. The interest rates increase to 8.2% and 8.6% per year, respectively, for customers depositing VND300 billion or more.
At PVCombank, the interest rate for 12-13 month term deposits at the counter is 5.4-5.6%/year. However, the interest rate for this term will skyrocket to 10.5%/year. If the deposit is 2,000 billion VND.
At MSB, the interest rate for 12 and 13-month terms applied at the counter is 5.1%/year. With deposits of VND500 billion or more, customers enjoy a rate of 9%/year. In addition, MSB also applies an additional interest rate margin for customers depositing money online for the first time, the additional rate is up to 0.4%/year.
Similarly, Dong A Bank adds 0.1-0.3%/year depending on deposits from 300 million to 10 billion VND or more for 6-12 month term deposits.
From the beginning of November until now, 27 banks have reduced deposit interest rates: Sacombank, NCB, VIB, BaoVietBank, Nam A Bank, VPBank, VietBank, SHB , Techcombank, Bac A Bank, KienLongBank, ACB, Dong A Bank, PG Bank, PVCombank, VietA Bank, SCB, Eximbank, OceanBank, BVBank, OCB, TPBank, CBBank, HDBank, SeABank, GPBank, Saigonbank.
Of which, VietBank, Dong A Bank, VIB, NCB, Techcombank, OCB, Bac A Bank, Sacombank are the banks that have reduced interest rates twice this November.
On the contrary, VIB, OCB and BIDV are the banks that have increased their deposit interest rates since the beginning of the month. With OCB, the bank increased interest rates for terms from 18-36 months. Meanwhile, BIDV increased interest rates for terms from 6-36 months, and VIB increased interest rates for terms from 2-5 months.
