Instead of having to wait at the bank, Ms. Tran Thi Dao (born in 1996, residing in Loc Ha town, Thach Ha district) chose to save money online at home.

Ms. Dao shared: “I often transact on Vietcombank's VCB Digibank app, so I learned about it and made an online deposit. Compared to saving at the counter, saving online helps me enjoy higher interest rates; when the maturity date comes, the principal and interest are automatically transferred to the account. With the digital banking application, I can track my balance, check interest rates, close or renew my savings book right on my phone, making it easy to control my finances. In particular, I don't have to waste time going to the bank to make a deposit like before.”

Many young people in Ha Tinh have chosen to save money online.

Along with Ms. Tran Thi Dao, many customers of Vietcombank Ha Tinh have also chosen the trend of online savings. What "stimulates" them to this trend is the convenience because with just a smartphone connected to the internet, customers can save anytime, anywhere, enjoy preferential interest rates and can withdraw savings at any time.

Ms. Hoang Thi Ngoc Thao - Head of Customer Service Department (Vietcombank Ha Tinh) said: “Implementing the Government's cashless policy and promoting the development of digital banking applications, Vietcombank has recently encouraged customers to deposit savings online with solutions such as: constantly upgrading technology towards simplicity, convenience, and ease of use for customers; preferential deposit interest rates (online deposit interest rates are 0.1% higher per year than counter interest rates); providing many product packages for customers to choose from such as: paying savings interest at the end of the term, paying savings interest in advance and paying savings interest periodically every month/quarter. In addition, when using online savings at Vietcombank, customers also have the opportunity to borrow money online.”

According to Ms. Hoang Thi Ngoc Thao, the fact that many customers choose to deposit savings online also creates advantages for banks such as: reducing transaction overload at the counter, reducing customer reception staff, and reducing related costs. This is the basis for banks to continue to reduce lending interest rates to support the economy in a context where there are still many potential difficulties and challenges.

Thanks to the synchronous and effective implementation of solutions, the rate of customers using online savings at Vietcombank Ha Tinh has been constantly increasing. According to the review, customers using this modern service are mainly young people, under 40 years old, who are proficient in technology. Up to this point, the capital mobilized through online form of Vietcombank Ha Tinh has reached 664 billion VND, accounting for nearly 6% of total retail capital mobilized.

At HDBank Ha Tinh, currently about 40% of customers use online savings.

Ms. Nguyen Thi Thuy Hang - Head of Customer Service Department (HDBank Ha Tinh) said: “Digital banking has become an inevitable development trend of credit institutions in the digital age, so HDBank always strives to improve digital financial products to bring great experiences to customers. By participating in online savings at HDBank, customers enjoy higher interest rates from 0.1 - 0.2%/year compared to savings at the counter. In the past two years, the rate of customers making online savings deposits at SHB Ha Tinh has also grown strongly. It is known that most of the customers using the services at this "bank" are young people, aged 25-40.

“When saving online, customers sometimes enjoy interest rates up to 0.3%/year higher than at the counter. In addition, after completing the transactions, the savings amount on the customer's app will be frozen, so customers can rest assured. Up to this point, the total mobilized capital of the entire branch has reached over 3,000 billion VND, of which online capital mobilization accounts for more than 6%" - Ms. Nguyen Thi Thuong - Head of Customer Service Department (SHB Ha Tinh) informed.

According to research, online savings are made directly on the Mobile Banking application or Internet Banking with many layers of security such as: OTP, smart OTP, biometrics... to help protect customer transactions. All information about deposit amount, interest rate, term is stored in the banking system, ensuring transparency and safety. In addition, customers will no longer worry about losing paper savings books.

With these "plus points", online savings are creating a new trend for Ha Tinh people in the investment accumulation channel. According to bank representatives, this trend will continue to increase strongly in the future.

However, to ensure safety during transactions, banks recommend that customers need to clearly understand how to keep account information secure and be alert to scams such as: only transacting on official banking applications, not sharing OTP, passwords, avoiding accessing strange links and fake websites...
