Ms. Le Thi Lan (born in 1981) in Phu Long village, Ky Phu commune - a single, disabled woman, unable to work, has been living in a makeshift, dilapidated house for many years. Ms. Lan is eligible for support to build a new house under the Government's Temporary and Dilapidated House Elimination Program with a budget of 70 million VND.

When they learned that Ms. Lan was approved and supported to build a new house, the villagers, local people and officials were all very happy. Therefore, when the village started building a house for Ms. Lan, everyone was enthusiastic, eager, and participated in helping, some contributed labor, some contributed money, everyone wanted the house to be completed quickly.

Secretary of Phu Long village Party cell Nguyen Thi Thuy shared: "With the direction and encouragement of the Steering Committee for eliminating temporary and dilapidated houses in the district and commune, the village has mobilized organizations and people to join hands and contribute to build a house for Ms. Lan. When we receive money from the State, we will compensate her, with the hope that she can live in a new house as soon as possible."
With high concentration, after just over 1 month of construction, the house has now entered the completion stage. The total estimated value is about 100 million VND.
It is known that Ky Phu commune currently has 13 households that need to rebuild and repair their houses, including 5 poor households and 8 meritorious people. Being approved to build a house under this program, she was extremely happy. However, when building the house, what she was most worried about was the huge amount of labor that she and her family could hardly afford.

Mrs. Hien's worries were resolved when all stages, from material transportation to construction, were undertaken by the village and mass organizations in the village, from the start of construction until handover for use. In addition to the 70 million VND in support from the State, additional personal loans, plus contributions from neighbors and relatives, Mrs. Hien now has a fairly spacious house to enjoy her old age.
Mrs. Hien confided: "Thanks to the attention of the Party and the State, the sympathy, sharing and unconditional support of the people and the village, I now live in a new, spacious house, have a proper place to worship my husband and ancestors, there is no greater happiness."
