NDO - Nestled at the foot of the mountain in the Northwestern border region, Pa Pang village (Nam Ban commune, Nam Nhun district, Lai Chau province) is home to 41 households with 167 people, of which the Ha Nhi ethnic group accounts for 95.8%.

The traditional costumes of Ha Nhi women in Pa Pang have their own distinct characteristics.

The traditional costumes of Ha Nhi women in Pa Pang have a distinct character. The most noticeable feature is the dominant dark indigo color, dotted with skillful and sophisticated hand-embroidered lines on hand-woven linen.

For Ha Nhi women, the traditional costume is combined with a headscarf and many types of jewelry and accessories such as necklaces, bracelets, and earrings.

Traditional costumes are present in everyday life.

The Ha Nhi women's shirts are decorated with hand-embroidered patterns and motifs, simulating natural images such as leaves, patterns, geometric shapes... symbolizing fertility and community cohesion.

Men's clothing is simpler and more rustic, usually ao dai and indigo straight-leg pants.

As one of six villages in Nam Ban commune - where 420 households of three main ethnic groups, H'Mong, Mang and Ha Nhi, live together - Pa Pang village is still in a difficult situation.

In addition, integrating ethnic cultural education into schools and promoting the role of youth and women in preserving identity are also necessary directions. Maintaining unique colors in the integration period is not only a task but also a pride and responsibility of every citizen here.

The Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism has issued Decision No. 209/QD-BVHTTDL approving the Project "Preserving and promoting traditional costumes of Vietnamese ethnic minorities in the current period". The project implementation period is until 2030.
