Lam Dong promotes the strength of sports tourism

Tourists are excited to participate in the Flying Disc Shooting Competition and experience tourism in Lam Dong.

In May 2022, the Lam Dong Provincial Military Command approved paragliding activities and in June 2023, the Department of Operations - General Staff granted a license to the Southern Tourism Service Trading Joint Stock Company to deploy paragliding services at Con O Pass in My Duc Commune, Da Huoai District. Since then, this type of adventure sport service has been chosen by many domestic and foreign tourists to experience every time they come to Da Huoai District, especially on weekends, holidays and Tet.

The paragliding spot at Con O Pass is only about 3 hours away from Da Lat and Ho Chi Minh City. The cost of each paragliding flight is 1.5 million VND, including the fee for hiring a pilot, adventure sports insurance, a certificate after the flight and the fee for renting a camera. Before flying, visitors are instructed by instructors to observe and perform safety operations and skills. According to the organizer, paragliding activities at Con O Pass are always carried out with guaranteed equipment, ensuring safety when flying.

Experiencing the feeling of floating in the air, watching the majestic panorama of Lam Dong plateau when paragliding over Con O Pass makes tourists extremely excited. This is also the first and only licensed flying spot in Lam Dong province.

In 2024 alone, Da Teh district (old) also organized the Lam Dong Open Paragliding Tournament. Not simply a sports tournament, paragliding with safe flight, athletes can live in the feeling of having wings to soar over the mountains, breathing in the free air, in the vast space. From above, you can see the whole view of the fields, mountains, rivers, lakes, villages and residents of Da Huoai district developing day by day.

In addition, the tournament also aims to develop adventure sports tourism products associated with the tourism clusters of the southern districts. Along with that, building a mass sports movement in Lam Dong province, especially developing paragliding in the district in the coming time. This is the premise for Lam Dong province to host the National Paragliding Championships in the future. Thereby, attracting tourists to Lam Dong province; at the same time, becoming an ideal destination for those who love paragliding at home and abroad and tourists who want to experience the feeling of flying in the sky, contributing to diversifying the province's adventure sports tourism products. Food, transportation, accommodation, shopping services in Da Huoai district... benefit. Therefore, the locality is promoting sports tourism through events and tournaments to enhance the experience for tourists.

Meanwhile, although it is a new sport, and was only recently held in Lam Dong province on April 24, 2025, the Compak Sporting Flying Disc Shooting Tournament Spring Cup - Da Lat 2025 has left many impressions in the hearts of athletes as well as visitors. Notably, at this year's tournament, for the first time, there were 3 athletes from Lam Dong province, Luong Thi Tuyet Van, Hoang Thi Xuan Phuong, Dinh Nhat Duy participating. Although not yet a shooting athlete, with love, passion, and enthusiasm for flying disc shooting, they registered to practice and compete with professional flying disc shooters. These are new factors, hopefully the source of development of Compak Sporting flying disc shooting in Da Lat as well as Lam Dong province and neighboring provinces.

Mr. Do Van Binh - Chairman of the Vietnam Shooting Federation said that in addition to the professional aspect, the tournament is also an opportunity for Lam Dong province to introduce itself to domestic and international friends. Thereby, exploiting and promoting the potential and advantages of the tourism sector, contributing to promoting the development of tourism services in the area. "The Compak Sporting Flying Disc Shooting Cup Spring - Da Lat 2025 is not only a competition, but also an opportunity for each athlete as a tourist to come and experience exploring new and interesting lands. In Da Lat city in particular and Lam Dong in general, the athletes were immersed in the beautiful scenery, directly experiencing the unique and charming features. From discovering the beauty of the landscape to the culture of the people, this will be an interesting and unforgettable memory for me and the athletes", said Mr. Binh.

Mr. Dinh Van Tuan - Vice Chairman of Lam Dong Provincial People's Committee said that in the past, sports tourism was a small branch of tourism activities, but in recent years, sports tourism has become a new trend, developing at a dizzying speed, especially with the emergence and development of major sports tournaments, attracting a large number of athletes to participate with flexible organization capabilities, typically the sports competitions that have been held in Lam Dong province in recent times.

Organizing and hosting sports tournaments has contributed to the strong development of local tourism. Each tournament is carefully prepared by Lam Dong province from facilities to reception, accommodation, cuisine, ensuring security and order for guests in order to leave beautiful images in the hearts of domestic and international friends. In the coming time, Lam Dong province will carefully study and have a long-term orientation to build, upgrade infrastructure, improve the transportation system, and specialized technical facilities in a professional and modern direction, meeting the requirements of many forms of sports tourism.
