On the morning of May 7th, at Duu Lau Temple (Duu Lau Ward, Viet Tri City, Phu Tho Province), the People's Committee of Duu Lau Ward, in collaboration with Masan Consumer Goods Joint Stock Company, organized an event showcasing the culinary heritage of the three regions of Vietnam as a tribute to Prince Lang Lieu.
The event is not only a spiritual ritual but also a gathering place for the culinary cultural heritage of the three regions of Vietnam, arranged in the shape of a map of Vietnam, showcasing the unity and richness of the nation's cuisine.
Culinary heritage from all three regions of Vietnam converges.
At the Dữu Lâu communal house, 180 offering trays were meticulously prepared by artisans and chefs from all three regions of Vietnam (North, Central, and South), each tray a work of art, recreating the characteristic dishes of each region.
From the sticky rice cakes (bánh chưng and bánh giầy) of the North, to the shrimp paste (mắm tôm chà) and steamed rice cakes (bánh bèo) of the Central region, or the savory pancakes (bánh xèo) and spring rolls (gỏi cuốn) of the South, all blend together to create a vibrant culinary tapestry.
In particular, the offerings were arranged in the shape of a map of Vietnam, with the Hoang Sa and Truong Sa archipelagos recreated using specialty dishes, affirming love for the homeland and its islands.

180 trays of offerings arranged to form the map of Vietnam symbolize unity and the culinary diversity of different regions.
The event not only celebrates culinary values but also connects to the legendary story of Prince Lang Liêu - the 18th son of King Hùng, who created bánh chưng and bánh dày to offer to his ancestors. Through this, Lang Liêu conveyed a message of gratitude to heaven and earth, ancestors, and the spirit of family unity - core values of the Vietnamese people.
Preserving and promoting the cultural value of cuisine.
The story of Lang Liêu is not just a legend, but also a source of inspiration for generations of Vietnamese people to preserve and promote their national culinary heritage.
According to Ms. Le Thi Thiet, President of the Nam Dinh Provincial Culinary Culture Association, this year's incense offering ceremony in remembrance of Prince Lang Lieu is especially meaningful as it brings together more than 180 offering trays from all over the country, contributing to preserving and honoring the unique culinary culture of Vietnam.
“As a chef from the South, I am very happy to be here today with the community of culinary artisans to honor the founder of Vietnamese cuisine, Prince Lang Liêu. This is not only a ceremony for us to express our gratitude to the founder of the profession, but also an opportunity for the Vietnamese culinary community to work together to preserve and promote the essence of Vietnamese culinary culture through each dish,” shared Mr. Lý Sanh, one of the founders of the Saigon Chefs Association.

The artisans and chefs participating in the event also expressed their pride in contributing to the preservation of culinary culture.
Ms. Tran Thi Hong Loan, a culinary artist from Hue, said: “I am very happy to participate in the ceremony today. The program is very meaningful as it honors Prince Lang Lieu - who is revered as the founder of Vietnamese cuisine - and brings together artisans and chefs from all over the country to create traditional offerings that convey a message of unity and the diversity of Vietnamese cultural identity.”
Similarly, Mr. Co Nhu Doi, representative of the Van Cu Pho branch, emphasized the importance of promoting culinary cultural values in the new context: "We learn from tradition, but also innovate to make Vietnamese dishes more accessible to the younger generation and international tourists. The dishes we offer today are creatively adapted to suit modern customer tastes while still preserving the flavor and cultural identity of local cuisine."
Spreading the cultural values of Dữu Lâu communal house.
Dữu Lâu Temple, located in Dữu Lâu ward, Việt Trì city, is one of the important historical relics of Phú Thọ province, recognized as a provincial-level historical site.
This place is not only a space for worshipping Lord Lang Liêu but also a cultural center of the community, preserving the traditional values of the ancient land of Văn Lang.

“Every year, we organize festivals and events to remind people of their roots. This year's 180-tray offering event, with the joint efforts of the community, individuals, and organizations, represents a significant step forward, bringing the culinary heritage of the three regions of Vietnam to the people of Phu Tho, domestic and international tourists, contributing to the further development of Vietnamese culinary heritage,” said Mr. Ta Van Thinh.
The event of 180 offering trays at Duu Lau communal house is not only a cultural activity but also an affirmation of the vibrant vitality of Vietnamese cuisine.
Through the skillful hands of artisans and chefs, traditional dishes are not only preserved but also elevated, becoming a bridge between the past and the future, between generations of Vietnamese people, and between Vietnam and the world.
