LION Championship 28 ended dramatically on Phu Quoc Island

VHO - The LION Championship 28 event, the biggest MMA tournament in Vietnam, ended on the night of November 8 at Phu Quoc Island with a series of dramatic matches and many unexpected developments.

The four opening matches all ended with spectacular technical knockouts. The winners were Nguyen Thanh Thoan (defeated Huynh Ngoc Tin), Do Phuc Hau (defeated Pham Anh Duc), Le Minh Hoang (defeated Dinh Chi Cong) and Chayut Rojanakat (Thailand, defeated Gleb Ovcharov – Russia). The atmosphere in the stadium became even hotter as the audience focused their attention on the final two matches.

In the main match, Ha The Anh (Raptor MMA) faced off against Chinese representative Zhou Luo (Chau La). From the start, The Anh took the initiative to attack with low kicks, limiting his opponent's ability to get close. However, during a high kick that missed, he fell to the floor, creating an opportunity for Zhou Luo to counterattack.

Taking advantage of the opportunity, the Chinese fighter skillfully mounted a leg, bringing the match under control. A powerful kick helped Zhou Luo gain the advantage on the floor, quickly clinging to his opponent's back and accurately executing a rear-naked choke, forcing Ha The Anh to clap his hands to stop the match. The match ended in the first round with Zhou Luo winning.

The matches were very exciting.

If the MMA Pro matches ended quickly, the big surprise came in the MMA Duo category - a rare duel format. Right from the first minutes, Claudio Cautinho (Brazil) and Nguyen Nguyen Chuong of C88 Martial Arts & Yoga Fitness Club dominated with precise locks. However, the duo Tham Long - Sa Ma Di Cach (China) fought back fiercely, forcing the match to last until the last minutes.

The counterattacks from Sa Ma Di Cach when standing caused Nguyen Chuong to suffer a lot of damage, although he still maintained the initiative. At the end of the match, the judges declared the result a draw (two judges scored a draw, one judge scored the C88 team won). This was the first time since the introduction of the MMA Duo format that the result had to rely on the final decision of the judges.

Not only attracting audiences with its professional quality, LION Championship 28 also left its mark with its charity auction. The painting “Girl and the Fan” by lacquer artist Bui Huu Hung was successfully auctioned at 3 billion 218 million VND, of which 500 million VND was donated to support people affected by natural disasters and contributed to the Vietnam Mixed Martial Arts Development Fund.
