Official welcoming ceremony for General Secretary To Lam and his wife in Russia

Welcoming the General Secretary and his wife and the high-ranking Vietnamese delegation at the airport were Russian Deputy Prime Minister Dmitry Nikolayevich Chernyshenko; Russian Deputy Foreign Minister; Russian Ambassador to Vietnam and his wife; Director of the Protocol Department of the Russian Foreign Ministry; and leaders of the Regional Department, Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

On the Vietnamese side, there were Vietnamese Ambassador to Russia Dang Minh Khoi and his wife, along with staff of the Vietnamese Embassy in Russia.

Immediately afterwards, the General Secretary and his wife attended the official welcoming ceremony at the airport. General Secretary To Lam and his wife got off the plane, shook hands with Russian and Vietnamese officials at the airport to welcome them, and received flowers from the Ambassador and his wife.

Deputy Prime Minister Dmitry Nikolayevich Chernyshenko invited General Secretary To Lam and his wife to walk along the red carpet and take their places of honor. The head of the honor guard welcomed and reported to General Secretary To Lam. Immediately afterwards, the national anthems of Vietnam and Russia were played in the middle of Moscow.

General Secretary To Lam will meet with the Russian Prime Minister at the Prime Minister's Office immediately afterwards.

Russia is the third stop on the four-country working trip (along with Kazakhstan, Azerbaijan and Belarus) from May 5-12 of General Secretary To Lam and his wife.

This is the first official visit to the Russian Federation by Mr. To Lam since he was elected General Secretary of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of Vietnam. The visit takes place in a very meaningful context as the two countries are celebrating the 75th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations (1950-2025).

At the same time, each country also celebrated important historical milestones, as Russia celebrated the 80th anniversary of Victory Day in the Great Patriotic War, Vietnam celebrated the 50th anniversary of the Liberation of the South and National Reunification, the 80th anniversary of the August Revolution and National Day on September 2.

The visit aims to enhance political trust, identify new directions to bring the traditional friendship and comprehensive strategic partnership with Russia to new heights, as well as consolidate cooperation between the Communist Party of Vietnam and major political parties in Russia.

Along with that, General Secretary To Lam's official visit to the Russian Federation and attendance at the Victory Day Celebration in the Great Patriotic War also demonstrates Vietnam's respect and honor for the enormous contributions and sacrifices of the former Soviet Union and the Russian Federation today in the great victory against fascism, firmly protecting world peace.

Expressing his appreciation for General Secretary To Lam's official visit to the Russian Federation, Russian Ambassador to Vietnam Gennady Bezdetko emphasized that this is a key event in the program of bilateral contacts at the highest level this year.

Ambassador Gennady Bezdetko said that Russia considers the presence of the highest Party leader of Vietnam at the commemorative events in Moscow to demonstrate the unity of views of the Russian Federation and the Socialist Republic of Vietnam on the processes taking place in the contemporary world, on the outcome of World War II and on the impossibility of rewriting or distorting history for political interests.
