Classification criteria for excellent students and gifted students at secondary and high school levels

According to Circular 22 on evaluating secondary school and high school students, to achieve the title of "Excellent Student" at the end of the school year, students need to be evaluated as good in both criteria: training results (conduct) and learning results (academic performance).

Good academic performance is when all subjects have an average grade of 6.5 or higher, including at least 6 subjects with a grade of 8.0 or higher. In addition, all subjects are assessed by comments at a satisfactory level.

The title "Excellent Student" is for students with outstanding overall achievements. Accordingly, students need to have at least 6 subjects with a score of 9.0 or higher. Other conditions are similar to "Excellent Student".

Also from this school year, the year-end awards will only have two titles: "Excellent Student" and "Good Student". The title "Advanced Student" in grades 2 and 3 will be officially abolished according to the assessment regulations of the new program.

Criteria for grading excellent and good performance in primary school students

Based on the synthesis of assessment results on learning of each subject,educational activities and qualities and abilities, homeroom teachers evaluate primary school students according to 4 levels: Excellent completion, good completion, completion and incomplete.

Students are considered to have completed excellently when their assessment results for subjects and educational activities are at the level of good completion and no subject in the final exam is below 9 points. In addition, their qualities and abilities are at the level of Good.

If the above standards are met but the student has a subject score below 9 points and not lower than 7 points, the student will only be assessed as having completed well.

At the end of the year awards, students who perform excellently receive the title of "Excellent Student". Meanwhile, students who perform well only receive the title of "Outstanding Student". The new program's evaluation method no longer includes the title of "Excellent Student" in primary school.

How to calculate semester and yearly average score

Based on the calculation of semester grade point average (SGPA) and yearly grade point average (Yearly GPA), students can monitor and evaluate their own learning results.

The formula for calculating semester average score (GPA) is as follows:

GPA = (Total regular assessment score + Mid-term assessment score x 2 + Final assessment score x 3)/(Number of regular assessment scores + 5).

In which, the total score of regular assessment (TĐĐGtx) is the total score of all regular tests and assessments in the semester of that subject. The number of regular assessments is specifically regulated depending on the number of lessons of the subject in the year.

The formula for calculating the average score for the whole year (GPA) is as follows:

GPA = (Average score of semester I + Average score of semester II)/3.
