According to a survey by Booking.com, 99% of Vietnamese users utilize AI-integrated search engines, 92% use AI-powered content recommendations on online platforms, and 95% interact with generative AI tools.

Artificial intelligence (AI) is becoming an indispensable part of the daily lives of Vietnamese tourists. Accordingly, research has categorized consumers into different groups based on how they embrace AI: Nearly half (47%) of Vietnamese tourists belong to the AI Enthusiasts group, meaning those curious and interested in the capabilities AI can perform, while 28% belong to the AI Advocates group – believing in the benefits AI brings and responsibly supporting its application.

Besides making journeys easier and more efficient, AI is also expected to contribute to a positive social impact – a benefit of AI that has been acknowledged by 80% of Vietnamese travelers. The majority of users (79%) appreciate AI suggestions that help them avoid overly crowded destinations or peak hours.

Vietnamese travelers are also increasingly concerned about the impact of their trips on local communities, with 76% wanting AI to prioritize recommending experiences that have a positive impact on the places they visit.

While many embrace the potential of AI, a significant number remain cautious about adopting this technology, with 91% of users expressing at least one concern about its long-term consequences. Nearly 4% of survey participants identified themselves as AI Cautious, expressing apprehension about developing or using AI. 2% were AI Skeptics, and 6% defined themselves as AI Detractors, indicating that a substantial segment is not yet ready to embrace AI.

These concerns highlight the need for responsible AI deployment, balancing benefits and consumer trust. These fresh perspectives and viewpoints will not only shape the future of AI in the tourism industry but also in many other sectors in Vietnam.
