Gyokeres is expected to help Arsenal quench their thirst for titles. |
Arsenal spent £63.5 million to bring Viktor Gyokeres to Emirates, hoping he would become the main spearhead to help the "Gunners" end their 21-year streak of no trophies in the Premier League. The 27-year-old Swedish striker was also given the legendary number 14 shirt worn by Thierry Henry - a symbol of glorious goals.
However, according to predictions from the CasinoHawks supercomputer, the possibility of Gyokeres touching the Golden Boot award in the 2025/26 season is extremely low - only 4.9%. Statistics predict that he will achieve an expected goals (xG) index of 16.3 in his first season in England, far behind the two "giants" Erling Haaland (xG 24.3) and Mohamed Salah (xG 18.2).
Haaland and Salah have dominated the Golden Boot for the past three seasons. Last season, Salah scored 29 goals to win the individual award for the fourth time. The supercomputer rates Haaland at 64.9% chance of continuing to dominate, Salah at 11%, and Gyokeres at third, slightly ahead of Chris Wood (4.4%).
Behind them are players with over 1% chances such as Cole Palmer (1.9%), Ollie Watkins (1.2%), Jean-Philippe Mateta and Yoane Wissa (both 1.0%). Meanwhile, Liverpool's new recruits - Hugo Ekitike and Florian Wirtz - have almost no chance, with 0.05% and 0.01% respectively.
Notably, Jorgen Strand Larsen (0.04%) is rated higher than Bryan Mbeumo and Liam Delap (both 0.03%), Omar Marmoush (0.02%) and Joao Pedro (0.01%). Worst of all is Matheus Cunha - MU's new contract - with a probability of... 0.00% for the Golden Boot dream.
Obviously, before dreaming of the top scorer title, Gyokeres will have to prove that he can quickly integrate and shine in the world's most demanding Premier League environment.
