A representative from Vietnam Airlines stated that approximately 40 minutes after takeoff, a South Korean passenger seated in seat 17G suddenly showed signs of ill health and fainted. The cabin crew immediately implemented necessary first aid and medical assistance measures in accordance with the emergency response procedures on the flight.

Due to the passenger's lack of improvement in health, the flight crew decided to divert and make an emergency landing at Da Nang airport so that the passenger could receive necessary medical assistance on the ground as soon as possible.
Upon receiving information from the flight crew, Vietnam Airlines representatives at Da Nang Airport quickly coordinated with the Airport Authority, airport medical units, and other relevant agencies to implement an emergency approach plan to the aircraft. Passengers were then transferred to the hospital for further treatment.
According to updates from the hospital, the passenger's health condition has stabilized after receiving timely emergency treatment. Vietnam Airlines has also sent staff to accompany the passenger's family, continue to assist with necessary procedures, and closely monitor the treatment process.
After completing medical assistance, flight VN837 continued its journey and landed safely in Siem Reap at 7:10 PM on the same day.
"The emergency landing was a timely and necessary decision in this exceptional situation, demonstrating a sense of responsibility and close coordination between aviation and ground units. Although adjusting the itinerary may incur costs and affect flight schedules, we always prioritize the safety and health of passengers in all our operations," a representative from Vietnam Airlines shared.
This is one of many instances where Vietnam Airlines has adjusted itineraries to assist passengers requiring medical attention. Previously, on July 6th, flight VN56 from Hanoi to the UK had to be diverted to Kolkata airport (India); on June 30th, flight VN7569 from Hanoi to Nha Trang had to land in Da Nang; and on June 16th, flight VN158 from Da Nang to Hanoi landed at Phu Bai airport (Hue) to provide emergency medical care to a passenger.
Vietnam Airlines advises passengers to proactively monitor and assess their own health status before each trip. If any unusual symptoms are observed, passengers should consult a doctor promptly and reconsider taking the flight to ensure their health and safety.
