Hanoi has 2 more specialized schools, becoming the locality with the most specialized schools in Vietnam.

Up to now, Hanoi has 4 specialized high schools, including Hanoi - Amsterdam, Nguyen Hue, Chu Van An and Son Tay, the locality with the most specialized schools in the country.

The Hanoi People's Committee has just issued a decision to reorganize Chu Van An High School into Chu Van An High School for the Gifted and Son Tay High School into Son Tay High School for the Gifted.

According to the decision, Chu Van An High School for the Gifted and Son Tay High School for the Gifted are under the Hanoi Department of Education and Training.

These are two public generaleducation institutions in the national education system and in the general school system of Hanoi.

The two schools are organized and operated in compliance with current regulations of the Ministry of Education and Training for specialized high schools, and are under the direct and comprehensive direction and management of the Department of Education and Training and other relevant agencies of Hanoi City.

The two schools enjoy the policies and regimes of specialized high schools according to the provisions of Circular No. 05/2023/QD-BGDDT dated February 28, 2023 of the Ministry of Education and Training on the regulations on organization and operation of specialized high schools and current regulations.

Previously, Chu Van An High School and Son Tay High School were public high schools with specialized classes. The two schools recruited both regular (non-specialized) and specialized students. When they became specialized schools, both schools were only allowed to recruit specialized students, starting from the 2025-2026 school year.

With the above decision, Hanoi has 4 specialized high schools, including Hanoi - Amsterdam, Nguyen Hue, Chu Van An and Son Tay, the locality with the most specialized schools in the country.

In the 2024-2025 school year, the total enrollment target for grade 10 of the four high schools Hanoi - Amsterdam, Nguyen Hue, Chu Van An and Son Tay is more than 2,000, while the number of candidates registering for the exam is more than 11,000.
