With a total of 13 subjects including math, physics, chemistry, biology, IT, literature, history, geography, English, Japanese, French, Russian and Chinese, the highest number of Hanoi students selected for the national round was 260, equivalent to about 9.1%.

The provinces and cities that reorganize administrative units have their own quotas. Ho Chi Minh City has the most quotas with 40 candidates/team/subject. The newly merged provinces from 2-3 old provinces will have 20-30 candidates for each team of each subject.
For example, Tuyen Quang merged from 2 old provinces, Tuyen Quang and Ha Giang , so there is a maximum of 20 candidates/team/exam subject. Ninh Binh merged from 3 old provinces, Ninh Binh, Nam Dinh and Ha Nam, so there is a maximum of 30 candidates/team/exam subject.
