Hanoi meets 13 teams competing in national excellent student competition

In the national exam for excellent high school students in the 2024-2025 school year, Hanoi has 260 students taking the exam in 13 subjects: math, physics, chemistry, biology, information technology, literature, history, geography, English, Russian, French, Chinese, Japanese (20 students in each subject), an increase of 26 students compared to last year.

The Board of Directors of the Hanoi Department of Education and Training congratulated 260 members of the Hanoi excellent student team participating in the national excellent student exam for the 2024-2025 school year.

The highlight of the Hanoi student team competing in the national excellent student competition this year is the participation of students from 16 schools, including specialized high schools, non-specialized public high schools and private schools.

In the system of specialized high schools (schools with specialized classes), the leader is Hanoi - Amsterdam High School for the Gifted (138 students); followed by Nguyen Hue High School for the Gifted, Chu Van An High School and Son Tay High School.

Among non-specialized public high schools, the school with the most students making it to the national team is Nguyen Gia Thieu High School (3 students); Kim Lien High School (2 students); the remaining schools: Ngo Quyen High School - Ba Vi, Tran Hung Dao High School - Ha Dong, Phan Huy Chu High School - Dong Da, Viet Duc High School, each school has 1 student becoming a member of the team.

Among private schools, Newton Secondary and High School has the most students in the team with 5 students (4 students in the math team, 1 student in the physics team); Japan International Primary, Secondary and High School (3 students); Doan Thi Diem High School; Luong The Vinh Secondary and High School; Nguyen Binh Khiem Secondary and High School - Cau Giay; Hoang Long High School (each school has 1 student).

Director of Hanoi Department of Education and Training Tran The Cuong and Director of the Center for Cultural and Scientific Activities of Van Mieu - Quoc Tu Giam Le Xuan Kieu presented gifts and congratulated the students.

According to the representative of the Department of Education and Training, right after the selection exam and establishment of 13 teams in 13 subjects, the students had 2 months of intensive training. Under the guidance of the best teachers, the 260 team members improved their self-study skills, self-research and scientific approach to knowledge; thereby being ready to enter the exam with the best mindset.

Speaking at the ceremony, Director of the Hanoi Department of Education and Training Tran The Cuong said: Over the past 15 years, Hanoi has always been leading the country in the number and quality of official awards in the National Excellent Student Competition, maintaining and increasing the number of first prizes; continuing to affirm its leading position in the quality of keyeducation in the country. That result creates motivation, contributing to strongly promoting the emulation movement of good teaching - good learning, having a profound influence on all levels of education; at the same time affirming the position and role of education and training in the capital.

“This year’s exam is the first time that the most units ever (16 units) have contributed students to the team. In addition to specialized high schools, there are also students from public and private high schools. This is very encouraging and valuable” - Director of the Hanoi Department of Education and Training Tran The Cuong said and hoped that teachers and candidates would continue to improve their knowledge, constantly learn, strive, and prepare the best mindset to take the exam and achieve high results.

Representing 260 team members, Nguyen Ba Linh, a 12th grade Physics 1 student at Hanoi - Amsterdam High School for the Gifted, expressed his determination to do his best to achieve the best results, bringing joy to his family, teachers and the education sector of the capital.

Director of Hanoi Department of Education and Training Tran The Cuong presented flowers and gifts to congratulate teachers and students who won high prizes at the 2024 International Junior Science Olympiad IJSO.

At the ceremony, Director of the Department of Education and Training Tran The Cuong commended and presented gifts to teachers and students with excellent achievements at the International Junior Science Olympiad (IJSO) 2024 (5 Silver medals, 1 Bronze medal).

According to the plan of the Ministry of Education and Training, the national excellent student selection exam for the 2024-2025 school year will take place on December 25 and 26, 2024. In the 2023-2024 school year, Hanoi has 234 students participating in the exam. With 184 students winning prizes (14 first prizes, 61 second prizes, 54 third prizes and 55 consolation prizes), 43 more than last year, Hanoi continues to be the leading locality in the country in terms of the number of prizes in the national excellent student exam.
