Hanoi: Violator said he only drank 1 can of beer since morning when alcohol concentration was at the limit

From July 31 to August 6, the Traffic Police Department, Hanoi City Police said it had handled 689 cases of alcohol concentration violations.

According to the actual situation at the Bach Mai - Thanh Nhan intersection (Bach Mai ward) on the night of August 7, the working group of the Road Traffic Police Team No. 4 (Traffic Police Department - Hanoi City Police) handled 10 cases of alcohol concentration violations. There was even a case of violation at the maximum level of 0.535 mg/l of breath.

Despite violating the alcohol concentration limit, Mr. LVM (born in 1962, residing in Bach Mai ward) still claimed that he only drank 2 glasses of beer; and Mr. NNT (born in 1977, residing in Tuong Mai ward) claimed that he only drank 1 can of beer since morning.

In particular, during the process of controlling and handling violations, there are cases where violators do not comply, abandon their vehicles and do not sign the violation handling records. This is also a problem that causes difficulties for the traffic police force in handling violations.

Lieutenant Colonel Nguyen Hong Thanh, an officer of Traffic Police Team No. 4, said that those who have consumed alcohol, especially those with high alcohol concentrations, will have their thinking and nature affected, leading to inappropriate behavior or speech.

“In the process of handling the above cases, the traffic police force must remain calm and follow the correct procedures. At the same time, the authorities must also implement measures to mobilize and propagate violators to cooperate in the process of handling violations,” said Lieutenant Colonel Nguyen Hong Thanh.

Recently, in Hanoi in particular and the whole country in general, there have been many traffic accidents with unfortunate consequences, the cause of which is the use of alcohol while participating in traffic.

Therefore, the Traffic Police Department, Hanoi City Police recommends that people absolutely comply with the regulation of not drinking alcohol or beer when participating in traffic, to ensure the safety of themselves and those around them, and demonstrate responsibility and culture when participating in traffic.
