Hanoi: Exhibition of historical photos bearing Vietnamese pride

On the occasion of the 79th anniversary of the successful August Revolution (August 19, 1945 - August 19, 2024) and the National Day of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam (September 2, 1945 - September 2, 2024), the Hanoi Department of Culture and Sports organizes the photo exhibition "Proud of the two words Vietnam", displayed at the Exhibition House 93 Dinh Tien Hoang, Hoan Kiem, Hanoi.

More than 150 selected photos were displayed to provide an overview of the glorious and heroic history of the Vietnamese people over the past 79 years.

Banners and slogans celebrating the 79th National Day of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam appeared in many locations in the exhibition area as an affirmation of the golden milestones in the journey to preserve the country's independence.

Many people and tourists from all over the provinces and cities visited the exhibition and had their own feelings and the paintings depicting the glorious and heroic history of the nation.

From Hai Phong to Hanoi capital for sightseeing during the holidays, Ms. Hai Thanh, who is very fond of art, visited the exhibition space at 93 Dinh Tien Hoang.

Ms. Thanh shared: "With the main space being red and yellow like the colors of the national flag, along with images of milestones associated with the nation's history, I am even more proud and love my country more."

79 years ago, in the historic autumn days, under the leadership of the Communist Party of Vietnam and President Ho Chi Minh, our people made the great August Revolution.

Visitors capture moments next to historical landmarks displayed at the exhibition.

On September 2, 1945, at Ba Dinh Square (Hanoi), on behalf of the provisional government, President Ho Chi Minh read the Declaration of Independence, giving birth to the Democratic Republic of Vietnam, the first people's democratic state in Southeast Asia, now the Socialist Republic of Vietnam.

This important event is a brilliant milestone in the glorious history of building and defending the country of the Vietnamese people. The success of the August Revolution leading to the birth of the Democratic Republic of Vietnam is a great victory of the people, smashing the yoke of domination, oppression, and exploitation of the colonial and feudal regimes, and bringing power into the hands of the people.

Vietnam transformed from a colonial, semi-feudal country into an independent, free country. The people transformed from slaves to masters of the country, masters of society, masters of their own destiny. The country and people of Vietnam entered a new era, the era of national independence and socialism.

Over the past 79 years, fulfilling the sacred oath at the Declaration of Independence Ceremony "The entire Vietnamese people are determined to devote all their spirit and strength, lives and property to maintain that freedom and independence", our people have devoted so much effort, intelligence, and sacrificed so much blood to maintain the achievements and realize the noble goals of the August Revolution: "Independence for the Fatherland, freedom and happiness for the people".

The great victories and great achievements of our people over the past nearly 80 years have been admired and highly appreciated by the people of the world and international friends, becoming valuable assets for our nation in the process of promoting industrialization, modernization and international integration.

The exhibition is opened with the hope of helping viewers gain a deeper understanding of the stature, great historical significance and lessons of victory of the August Revolution; be more proud of the great achievements and glorious feats of our country and people over the past nearly 8 decades under the leadership of our Party and the great President Ho Chi Minh, thereby seeing the responsibility of each person in the cause of building and defending the Fatherland in the new era.

In addition, the exhibition also displays books about the history of the thousand-year-old capital Hanoi with its renovation and development.

The exhibition runs until September 4, 2024 at Exhibition House 93 Dinh Tien Hoang, Hoan Kiem, Hanoi.
