Key projects to promote urbanization and inter-regional connectivity.

Speaking at the groundbreaking ceremony, Vice Chairman of the Hanoi People's Committee Duong Duc Tuan said that the Tran Hung Dao bridge project consists of two component projects, with a total investment of nearly 16,000 billion VND. The starting point is at the intersection of Tran Hung Dao – Tran Thanh Tong – Le Thanh Tong streets (Hai Ba Trung district), and the end point connects to Nguyen Son street (Long Bien district and Bo De ward), with a total length of approximately 4.18 km.

The main bridge is 870m long, consisting of 6 spans divided into 2 sections, with a steel arch structure symbolizing infinity – an image associated with the spirit of innovation and sustainable development of the Capital. The two approach bridges on either side are over 1.1km long, with a prestressed reinforced concrete box girder structure. The route has three major intersections: the right bank of the Red River, the left bank of the Red River – Co Linh, and Nguyen Son road, designed to ensure technical standards for urban main roads, harmonizing with the landscape, lighting, and greenery.

The project is expected to be completed in 2027.

The Vice Chairman of the Hanoi People's Committee emphasized that the Tran Hung Dao Bridge will be a strong driving force for the urbanization process in the area on both banks of the Red River, contributing to reducing congestion on the Chuong Duong and Vinh Tuy bridges, expanding urban development space in the East, and strengthening inter-regional connectivity between Hanoi and the provinces of the East and Northeast. The project also creates a foundation for implementing the policy of population decentralization, reducing traffic pressure in the inner city, and contributing to the goal of achieving a GDP growth rate of 8% or higher in 2025.

“The city of Hanoi sincerely thanks the attention and guidance of the Central Party Committee, the Government, the Ministry of National Defense, and other ministries and agencies, as well as the consensus and support of the people of the capital city – key factors that have helped the project to be implemented smoothly,” Mr. Duong Duc Tuan shared.

He also requested that departments, agencies, local authorities, and contractors "focus maximum resources, manpower, equipment, and ensure scientific, safe, high-quality, aesthetically pleasing, and timely construction" to bring the project into use as soon as possible.

The government is working alongside Hanoi to complete the capital's infrastructure.

Issuing the order to commence construction, Deputy Prime Minister Mai Van Chinh affirmed that the implementation of the Tran Hung Dao bridge project demonstrates Hanoi's determination to implement one of the three strategic breakthroughs in infrastructure, concretizing the policy of developing a synchronous and modern infrastructure as set forth by the 13th Party Congress.

He stated that, in recent times, the Party, the National Assembly, and the Government have focused resources on developing the national transportation infrastructure system – from expressways, seaports, airports, and urban railways to key projects in the capital city, opening up new development opportunities for the economy, urban areas, tourism, services, and industry.

"The Tran Hung Dao Bridge is not only an important transportation project but also holds symbolic value, contributing to the beautification of Hanoi's architectural landscape and serving as a future tourist highlight for the capital," the Deputy Prime Minister emphasized.

Commending the efforts of the Hanoi authorities and relevant units, the Deputy Prime Minister stated that the results achieved are proof of the effectiveness of the decentralization and delegation mechanism in infrastructure investment. He also noted that there are still many challenges ahead, especially in land clearance, material sources, and construction conditions in complex weather, requiring decisive leadership and close coordination among all levels, sectors, and contractors.

"The government will always stand by and closely supervise the project to ensure its completion on schedule, with quality, safety, and efficiency, creating another new symbol of the thousand-year-old capital city," Deputy Prime Minister Mai Van Chinh affirmed.

A new landmark along the Red River.

The Tran Hung Dao Bridge – with its "infinity" symbolism representing longevity, connection, and sustainable development – promises to become a new architectural, cultural, and transportation highlight of Hanoi, contributing to the realization of the goal of building a civilized, modern, and distinctive capital city in its journey towards the future.
