'Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom' has no rivals at the box office, its weekend revenue is much higher than Van Dung and Lan Phuong's films combined.
Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom (Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom) or Aquaman 2 premiered on December 20 and quickly dominated the box office last weekend in North America as well as many countries around the world , including Vietnam. Although the revenue was not as high as expected, Aquaman 2 still dominated the theaters during Christmas.
According to data from Box Office Vietnam, Aquaman 2 earned 28.3 billion in just 3 days of the weekend, bringing the total revenue including early screenings to 39.6 billion.
Miss Thuy Tien attended the premiere of 'Aquaman 2' in Vietnam on December 19.
The appearance of Aquaman 2 has slowed down the ticket sales and revenue of the previous hottest movie in theaters, Soul Eater, a horror film starring Lan Phuong and Hoang Ha. Officially released on December 15, last weekend Soul Eater earned an additional 12 billion VND, bringing the total revenue after 10 days in theaters to 56.3 billion VND.
Meanwhile, Ghost Dog - Van Dung's first film, although it was not officially released until December 29, still earned impressive revenue from early screenings last weekend with 10.6 billion VND. The revenue of Ghost Dog and Soul Eater proves the appeal of pure Vietnamese horror films with folk elements to audiences.
The Vietnamese box office this weekend promises to be exciting as the year-end holiday is extended with the New Year, making the revenue of films predicted to be more positive. However, the box office is expected to be relatively calm as there are not many new blockbusters, and it will continue to be a race between the three names Aquaman 2, Ghost Dog and Soul Eater.
