It was noted that on the first day of the April 30 - May 1 holiday, a large number of tourists flocked to Ha Tinh beaches such as Thien Cam (Cam Xuyen), Xuan Hai (Thach Ha), Xuan Thanh (Nghi Xuan)... Accordingly, the number of customers using food services at restaurants also increased many times compared to normal days, especially in the time frame from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m.

Mr. Nguyen Dac Luan - owner of Yen Tin seafood restaurant (Thien Cam tourist area, Cam Xuyen) said: "The number of tourists coming to visit and relax has increased sharply, leading to a sharp increase in the demand for seafood. In recent days, the number of customers coming to eat at the restaurant has increased by 60 - 70% compared to the first days of the tourist season. Especially, it is the holiday season so seafood is selling at a very good price, especially squid and lobster. The restaurant has proactively purchased the goods early, but sometimes it still cannot meet the needs of customers, especially during peak hours."
According to Mr. Luan, lobsters are currently being sold at prices ranging from 1 to 1.3 million VND/kg, 100,000 to 250,000 VND/kg higher than before the holiday, depending on the type and size. Jumping squid costs 750 to 800,000 VND/kg, an increase of 100 to 150,000 VND/kg compared to before. In addition, other popular seafood such as grouper, shrimp and clams have also recorded an increase of 20 to 40,000 VND/kg depending on the type.

Although the prices have been adjusted to increase, many tourists still expressed their satisfaction when enjoying fresh seafood right at the sea in the holiday atmosphere. Mr. Le Van Binh (tourist from Hanoi ) said: "This year, my family chose Thien Cam Tourist Area for the holiday and what impressed us most here is that the seafood is very fresh, it must be said that few places can compare. Even though the price is higher than usual because it is the peak season, the fresh food is completely worth it. We will definitely choose Thien Cam for other holidays."

At Hoa Duan restaurant (Xuan Hai beach, Thach Ha district), it was recorded that from 5-7 pm on April 30, the restaurant was packed with customers. Although the staff was increased from 20 to 35 people, due to the large number of customers, there were still times when it was overloaded and many people had to wait. According to the restaurant, some types of seafood were "in demand" such as grade 1 crab at 700,000 VND/kg, jumping squid at 900,000 VND/kg, large snails at 800,000 VND/kg, grouper at 450,000 VND/kg...
Ms. Le Thi Duan - owner of Hoa Duan restaurant said: "To serve the increased demand for food and drink during the holiday, we have purchased many times more seafood than usual, even having to transfer money in advance to the supplier to hold the goods. After importing, we proceed to classify and nurture them to gradually sell to customers. On this occasion, due to increased demand in the market, the prices of many types of seafood have also increased compared to usual days. However, this is a general increase following the market rhythm during the holiday, so most customers are happy to use it."

At traditional markets and seafood businesses, on the first day of the holiday, seafood consumption also increased sharply. The prices of some types increased by 20-50% compared to normal days. Ms. Nguyen Thi Lan - a fishmonger at Vuon Uom market (Ha Tinh city) shared: "I specialize in providing seafood caught from the sea of Thach Hai, so the goods are very fresh and delicious, and many regular customers order in advance. During this holiday, customers mainly buy types such as: fresh squid, pomfret, grouper, and sea bass. Due to high demand, the prices of many types of seafood are currently higher than normal days."




At some specialized establishments, unprocessed seafood prices are "softer" than at restaurants but also higher than usual, especially the "best-selling" types. According to records, crabs of all kinds are priced from 300 - 400,000 VND/kg, an increase of about 80 - 100,000 VND/kg; mantis shrimp is 250,000 VND/kg, grouper is 250,000 VND/kg, an increase of 50,000 VND/kg; oysters are 60,000 VND/kg and clams are priced from 50 - 70,000 VND/kg, an increase of about 20,000 VND/kg...
Ms. Tran Thi Tinh - a seafood business in Loc Ha town (Thach Ha) said: "Many customers buy fresh food to organize meals at home during the holiday, so the number of customers increased many times compared to normal days. The prices of many items on April 30 also increased from 20 - 60% compared to the previous day such as: crab, shrimp, grouper... During these occasions, the import price changes every day, so we also have to sell at the increased price. It is expected that after the holiday, the prices will return to normal levels."

Besides fresh products, dried and frozen seafood are also "hot" items during this holiday, especially for tourists who want to buy them as gifts.
Ms. Hoang Thi Lich - owner of a dried and frozen seafood shop in Cam Nhuong commune (Cam Xuyen) said: "During the holidays, the demand for seafood consumption increases, especially tourists buy a lot of them as gifts. Products such as: dried squid, dried squid, dried shrimp... are favored by tourists because of their convenience, easy preservation and the characteristic flavor of the sea. Buying these specialties as gifts after a trip has become a habit of many people, contributing to making the seafood market more vibrant during the holidays. We hope that the weather in the coming days will be favorable for more tourists to visit Thien Cam tourist area as well as Cam Nhuong sea area."
According to business owners, the price of fresh seafood during the holidays can fluctuate daily, depending on supply and consumption, especially for high-end seafood. In the coming days, the demand for this item is expected to remain high and prices will not “cool down” until the end of the holiday.
