According to the World University Rankings 2026, Vietnam has 10 universities named. Of these, 4 units are present for the first time, including Van Lang University, Ho Chi Minh City University of Industry, Can Tho University and Da Nang University.

This year, Ho Chi Minh City has 2 universities entering the top rankings for the first time with many impressive achievements.
Van Lang University is in the top 1001-1200, ranked 392nd in the world in terms of academic reputation. In addition, the school is also recognized in the employer reputation index, reaching a rank of 701+, the international research cooperation index reached 45.3 points.
Ho Chi Minh City University of Industry recorded an achievement in the top 1201–1400, ranking 6th out of 10 Vietnamese highereducation institutions in the rankings. The school ranked 554th in academic reputation, with an employer reputation index of 701+.
Among the 10 universities on the list, the leading position still belongs to Duy Tan University (ranked 482, up 13 ranks compared to last year), followed by Ton Duc Thang University (ranked 684), and Hanoi National University (ranked 761-770).
Notably, on a 100-point scale, Van Lang University leads Vietnam in terms of academic reputation with a score of (31.4), followed by Ho Chi Minh City National University (29.1).
In 2025, Van Lang University is ranked in the top 500 best universities in Asia.
With more than 40,000 students, including nearly 3,000 international students, Van Lang University aims for a diverse learning environment, connecting students from many countries.
The 2026 World University Rankings are based on nine criteria. The international research network, sustainable development, employment outcomes, international faculty ratio and international student ratio all account for the same percentage of 5%. The academic reputation criteria account for 30%, the citation/faculty ratio (20%), employer reputation (15%), faculty/student ratio (10%).
QS 2026 evaluates more than 8,467 universities from 106 countries and territories, but only 1,501 schools qualify for official ranking.
