Secretary of Ham Tan District Party Committee Nguyen Tan Le has just signed a report on the results of reviewing the responsibilities of local leaders, units and individuals involved in allowing local fishing vessels to violate foreign waters according to Official Dispatch No. 1419 dated April 26 of the Provincial People's Committee on reviewing responsibilities according to Official Dispatch No. 265 dated April 17 of the Prime Minister .
Nine individuals were disciplined according to the Prime Minister's dispatch. Specifically, they were disciplined by Mr. Ha Le Chung, Chairman of Ham Tan District People's Committee, and Mr. Trac Xuan Cuong, Vice Chairman of the District People's Committee in charge of combating IUU fishing.
Seven other individuals include the former Head of the District Department of Agriculture and Rural Development, Chairman of the District Farmers' Association, Chairman of the District Women's Union, Secretary of the Tan Xuan Commune Party Committee, Deputy Secretary of the Party Committee - Chairman of the Tan Xuan Commune People's Committee, Chairman of the Tan Xuan Commune Farmers' Association and Chairman of the Tan Xuan Commune Women's Union.
The review process was conducted seriously, strictly, and in full compliance with regulations and instructions. Individuals involved in the review content were deeply aware of the content, purpose, requirements, principles, and review methods regarding the incident of a fishing boat in Tan Xuan commune, Ham Tan district, violating illegal exploitation in foreign waters and being arrested by Malaysian authorities on January 14, 2023. The individuals reviewed were given frank and sincere comments. Through the review, the individuals involved recognized the subjective and objective causes and self-criticized to gain profound experience in their leadership and direction at the local level.
Regarding the review of the responsibility of the Chief of Tan Thang Border Guard Station, according to the explanation: The people and vessels above belong to Tan Xuan commune, an inland commune not within the management scope of the sea border area of Tan Thang Border Guard Station. Therefore, it is not the responsibility of Tan Thang Border Guard Station, so it is recommended that no review of responsibility be conducted for this unit.
Previously, on April 17, the Prime Minister issued Official Dispatch 265 criticizing Binh Thuan province and three other provinces, Binh Dinh, Khanh Hoa and Kien Giang, for allowing local fishing boats to violate foreign waters. The Prime Minister requested the provinces to conduct serious reviews, clearly identify the responsibilities of local leaders and relevant units, and report to the Prime Minister.
