Thousands of gamers gather at the biggest gaming event in Vietnam in 2025

On May 26, Vietnam Game Day - Vietnam GameVerse 2025 opened at the Saigon Exhibition and Convention Center (SECC, District 7, Ho Chi Minh City).

The program is organized by the Department of Radio, Television and Electronic Information (Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism) in coordination with VnExpress Newspaper, FPT Online Services Joint Stock Company and Vietnam Game Alliance, lasting until May 27.

Mr. Le Quang Tu Do, Director of the Department of Radio, Television and Electronic Information, said that the Vietnam GameVerse 2025 event has set many new records after 3 years of organization. Notably, this year, for the first time, the event gathered more than 100 booths, double that of 2024, reflecting the strong development of the Vietnamese gaming industry.

Notably, for the first time, multinational corporations from the US, Korea, and China came to participate in the event, connecting with domestic businesses and communities. The Korean management agency, the Korean Game Management Committee, paid attention to the festival.

"This is also the first time that the "5 game universes" have converged: the State, publishers, manufacturers, investors, and schools. These factors create a synergistic strength for the Vietnamese game industry to reach far" - Mr. Le Quang Tu Do said.

Also at the event, Mr. Giuseppe Stasolla, Director of Southeast Asia Ecosystem, Google Play, assessed that Vietnam is emerging as the world's leading potential market in the field of game development.

According to a Google representative, Vietnam currently holds the No. 1 position globally in terms of game downloads on Google Play, with 6.1 billion downloads in 2024, equivalent to more than 11,600 downloads per minute. This is a clear demonstration of the attraction and strong development of the gaming industry in the domestic market.

On average, every minute, users in Vietnam download more than 11,600 applications and games from Google Play.

This figure reflects the strong growth potential of the gaming industry in Vietnam - a field that is emerging as a billion-dollar industry .

Google representatives added that domestic publishers are increasingly investing in product quality, targeting both domestic and international markets. In 2024, revenue from international users for Vietnamese game developers will reach more than VND2,000 billion.

"However, this is not the final limit," Mr. Giuseppe emphasized.

According to records, from early morning on May 26, before the official opening time, thousands of gamers gathered in long lines to visit and experience the exhibition.

After the opening, the booths of technology giants such as FPT, Google, Gosu and VNGGames became the center of attraction for gamers and interested people thanks to a series of attractive gifts and unique, creative technology experiences.
