Thousands of citizens of Ho Chi Minh City enthusiastically set off to join the army.

Kinhtedothi – On the morning of February 13th, Ho Chi Minh City held the 2025 military conscription ceremony. Accordingly, 4,003 citizens performed military service (including 3 women) and 987 citizens performed police service.


2,049 citizens volunteered for military service.

In 2025, the military enlistment ceremony in Ho Chi Minh City will be held at 22 locations (21 districts and Thu Duc City), with the main event in District 7 being broadcast live.

Attending the military enlistment ceremony in District 7 were the Politburo member and Secretary of the Ho Chi Minh City Party Committee; General Vo Minh Luong - Member of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of Vietnam, Standing Member of the Central Military Commission, and Deputy Minister of National Defense; Lieutenant General Nguyen Truong Thang - Member of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of Vietnam, Commander of Military Region 7; and leaders of various departments, agencies, and localities.

In 2025, a total of 4,197 conscription orders were issued, including 4,003 official orders (4,000 men, 3 women) and 194 reserve orders (accounting for 4.85% of the target), in accordance with regulations. Among them were 110 Party members, reaching 2.75% (including 97 official Party members, accounting for 2.42% and exceeding the set target).

There are 1,902 citizens with intermediate, college, and university degrees (47.51%); and 3,358 citizens with health classifications 1 and 2 (83.89%). A highlight for 2025 is that 2,049 citizens have volunteered to enlist (51.19% of the target).

For citizens performing police service, there are 987 quotas in 2025. Regarding health, 25 citizens (2.53%) are classified as health category 1, 843 citizens (85.41%) as health category 2, and the remainder (12.06%) as health category 3. In terms of political and educational standards, there are 22 Party members (2.23%), 186 citizens with university degrees (18.84%), 51 citizens with college degrees (5.17%), and 9 citizens with vocational secondary education (0.91%).

Regarding support for the military, in 2025 Ho Chi Minh City will do a good job in this area for young people enlisting in the army, with a total support amount of nearly 27 billion VND, averaging a gift worth 6,550,000 VND per citizen enlisting.

Serving in the military is an honor for oneself and one's family.

Also on February 13th, the day of the military enlistment ceremony, reporters observed that the process in District 8 was carried out quickly, efficiently, and safely. Attending the ceremony were Mr. Vo Khac Thai - City Party Committee member, Chairman of the Ho Chi Minh City Federation of Labor; Colonel Nguyen Cong Anh - Deputy Political Commissar of the Ho Chi Minh City Command; Mr. Tran Thanh Tung - Secretary of the District 8 Party Committee; Mr. Vo Thanh Kha - Chairman of the District 8 People's Committee, along with leaders from various city and local departments and agencies.

In 2025, District 8 will have 251 young people enlisting in the armed forces (including 207 citizens participating in military service and 44 citizens participating in police service), assigned to the following units: Gia Dinh Regiment (Ho Chi Minh City Command), 5th Infantry Division (Military Region 7), Armored Vehicle Technical School (Ministry of National Defense), 47th Reconnaissance Battalion (Military Region 7), and Ho Chi Minh City Police.

On behalf of the District 8 leadership, Mr. Vo Thanh Kha - Chairman of the District 8 People's Committee - gave a speech to encourage the new recruits before they departed for military service: "Performing military and police service to protect and build the Fatherland is both a duty and a responsibility of the youth of the new era; it is a sacred and noble honor for themselves; and at the same time, it is an honor for their families and a source of pride for District 8."

I am confident that all of you new recruits will uphold the revolutionary traditions of District 8, overcome all difficulties and challenges, strive to cultivate and train yourselves in all aspects, quickly adapt to the new environment; determined to successfully complete all tasks entrusted by the Party, the Army, and the People, contributing to the glorious image of "Uncle Ho's Soldiers," worthy of the trust and love of the Party Committee, the government, and the people of District 8.
