Hien Luong - Ben Hai: Symbol of division and aspiration for unification
Hien Luong Bridge - spanning the Ben Hai River - is not only a bridge, but also a vivid historical symbol of the division of the country after the Geneva Agreement in 1954. One side of the bridge is painted blue, the other yellow, clearly recreating the two regions of the South and the North that were once divided by war. Standing on the bridge, watching the gentle Ben Hai River flow, viewers cannot help but be moved when imagining the painful years, where each call to each other across the river was a choking sound, where the desire for reunion became a resilient flame in the hearts of every Vietnamese person. Recreating history through cinema and a journey of real-life experiences
As the main actor in the film Red Rain, Phuong Nam had the opportunity to return to Quang Tri to burn incense at the martyrs' cemeteries, visit the Citadel - a place associated with fierce battles and silent sacrifices of generations of his fathers. He shared about his journey of "losing 15kg in two months" to fully transform into the image of Uncle Ho's soldier: skinny, tanned but full of pride. Within the framework of the program, Phuong Nam also took the audience to visit the stone prison - a place that once held revolutionary soldiers. The footsteps on the cold cement floor, the old walls are the wordless story of the pain, loyalty and burning desire for freedom of the Vietnamese people.
Inspired by traditional craft villages
Leaving the historical space, the program took viewers to Van Hoa village - famous for its traditional hat making craft. Here, Phuong Nam was guided by the women in the village through each meticulous step to create a hat from sedge grass - different from the conical leaves commonly found in the North. While Ngoc Thuy traveled on the O Lau River and explored the countryside, Phuong Nam diligently sewed the hat under the enthusiastic guidance of skilled craftsmen. At the end of the challenge, although his first hat was not perfect, his efforts and respect for the traditional craft received "ten points" from the special judges - the artisans of the village.
Sow love, connect heritage
The banks of Hien Luong not only recreate a part of the nation's history through experiences and memories, but also arouse pride, gratitude and belief in traditional cultural values. With the support of PetroVietnam Gas Joint Stock Corporation (PV GAS), the Green Connection Journey becomes a meaningful bridge between the past and the present, between people and people, between nature, history and culture.
Saying goodbye to Quang Tri, the audience not only receives beautiful memories, but also the responsibility to preserve and spread historical values. Let's follow the green car to continue its journey at 3:45 pm every Saturday and Sunday on VTV3 channel of Vietnam Television to continue the authentic and touching stories about the people and land of Vietnam.
