Journey to create new countryside - Part 2: "With diligence, iron can be turned into needles"
(QBĐT) - After a long journey of efforts to implement the new rural criteria, the results that localities have received from the program are that people are enjoying the fruits of their own creation. Villages with new looks... are gradually emerging in the midst of peaceful countryside.

>>>Lesson 1: "Necessity is the mother of invention"
The village has house numbers.
House number 12, Troong Trot or house number 2 Troong Tiem - these are addresses not in a town or a city but in a hamlet of An Thuy commune (Le Thuy). In the middle of a peaceful village surrounded by rivers and vast fields, there are street names and house numbers that surprise and interest many people. The Troongs with their unique and distinctive names are unlike anywhere else. Going deep into the clean concrete Troongs are numbered houses, looking like an alley in a miniature city.
Mr. Vo Minh Hoi, Head of My Loc Ha village, An Thuy commune, excitedly said: “In our village, all the houses have been named and each house number has been numbered, making it easy to find. This is the result of innovation after a long time when the locality and the people joined hands and unanimously implemented the program of building new rural areas”.
Houses are assigned serial numbers.
Mr. Hoi also shared: “We held meetings, asked for people's opinions and based on their suggestions, reviewed and named the Troong. The special thing is that, before asking for people's opinions, we suggested that they should not name the Troong after great people but based on the characteristics of the village. That is why the Troong name and house address do not lose the traditional cultural features of a village because this is done on the basis of inheriting existing traditional values. The Troong names are based on the legends of the Troong or the way people have called them for generations, such as: Troong Ren, Troong Tiem, Troong Trot, Troong Nuong Thi... The name Troong Ren is because in the past, there was a blacksmith in the Troong, or Troong Nuong Thi because in the past, there was a garden of fruits planted there in the Troong....".
Ms. Nguyen Thi Hien, An Thuy commune, said: Since the troongs have names and houses have numbers, people find their daily lives more convenient. Whenever guests from other communes or districts come to visit, they can easily find their houses. The characteristic of the village is that there are many troongs, each troong starts from the main road of the village leading deep into the village. That is why it was very difficult for strangers to find troongs or houses in the past.
Now it is not only convenient for visitors, but also for the villagers. Now that the internet and social networks are developed, many people have the habit of ordering online. People just need to write down their address and the goods will be delivered to their home without having to go to the post office or the main road to get them. The practice of naming and numbering houses is not only in My Loc Ha village but also in all villages of An Thuy commune. It has been implemented for many years now.
Livable countryside is created
Although the project is in the process of building an advanced rural commune, the initial results achieved from the rural construction program in An Thuy have made people happy and satisfied. Not only each house has an address, but from the beginning of the village to the end of the village, the roads are concreted, the environment is clean and tidy, and people's houses are increasingly built spacious and solid.
A corner of An Thuy commune today.
Coming to Bac Trach (Bo Trach), the first commune recognized as a model new rural area in the province. What impresses many people here are the clean and beautiful concrete roads. On both sides of the road are planted colorful flowers. Garbage is disposed of neatly and in the right place by the people. The concrete roads are planned widely leading to the rice fields.
Up to now, after a long journey of striving to build a new rural area, Quang Binh province has 2 district-level units completing the construction of a new rural area; 97 communes have met the new rural standards, 17 communes have met the advanced new rural standards and 6 communes have met the model new rural standards.
Mr. Phan Van Dong happily said: Previously, the roads leading to the fields were mostly muddy dirt roads when it rained. Since the implementation of the NTM program, the roads have been widely concreted. Every time the rice is harvested, machines can go to the place to harvest and transport it home. Since the construction of the model NTM, with the smart village model, people have been able to use the internet for free, get acquainted with smartphones and update information, guidelines, policies of the Party, policies, laws of the State, and local authorities in a timely manner. In particular, the security and order situation in the commune is ensured thanks to the public security camera system. Security cameras are installed at key locations on main roads, alleys, intersections, public areas... 24/7 to limit social evils and serious crimes, thereby making people feel secure in their daily life and production.
Looking back at the journey of building new rural areas in Quang Binh over the past years, despite many difficulties and challenges. However, it is the solidarity and unity between local authorities that have built rural areas that are gradually completing their infrastructure. With a low starting point, but up to now, after many years of striving, Quang Binh has had district-level units meeting new rural standards, advanced new rural communes and model new rural areas. More and more livable rural areas are gradually being built and formed to serve the people's lives more prosperously, said Mr. Nguyen Quoc Tuan, Deputy Chief of the New Rural Coordination Office, Deputy Head of the Provincial Department of Economic Cooperation and Rural Development.
