The London High Court dismissed Harry's appeal against the British police for refusing to provide protection when he returned home.
London's High Court ruled today that Harry cannot seek a judicial review of the decision by the Royal and Public Protection Executive Committee (RAVEC) in January 2022 to stop him paying for police protection. RAVEC is responsible for ensuring security for members of the British royal family and important people, such as the prime minister .
Judge Martin Chamberlain said RAVEC was not wrong in arguing that allowing individuals to hire police protection was against the public interest.
Harry and his lawyers have not commented on the news. Lawyers argued last week that RAVEC had no authority to reject Harry’s request to pay for the police himself, and that if it did, the agency was wrong not to consider an exception.
Lawyers for the police and the British government said allowing Harry to hire police protection meant wealthy people could also "buy" specially trained officers to act as personal bodyguards. This was very different from paying police to provide security for sporting events or celebrity weddings.

This is one of several cases involving Harry in the UK. He is expected to return to London in June to give evidence in a lawsuit against Mirror Group Newspapers (MNG), the owner of the Sun newspaper, over alleged phone hacking. The trial began on 10 May and is expected to last seven weeks.
Harry and his wife Meghan decided to leave the royal family and move to the US in early 2020. Tensions between the couple and the British royal family also increased after revealing many "secret" stories of the royal family in an interview with an American TV station in March 2021.
The last time Harry returned to the UK was to attend the coronation of King Charles III on May 5. However, immediately after the ceremony at Westminster Abbey, Harry returned to California, USA, to celebrate the 4th birthday of his son Archie. Harry was in the UK for less than 36 hours.
