After the recent high school graduation exam, candidates still have a lot of work to do to find a "ticket" to university admission, even if they have been admitted through the early admission method of universities.

Nguyen Quoc Khanh, a 12th grader at Thong Nhat A High School (Trang Bom District) said: “Before the high school graduation exam, I planned to apply to the University of Technology (under Ho Chi Minh City National University). However, the results of the recent high school graduation exam may not be as expected, so I recalculated and may apply to a “lighter” school to ensure my chances of being admitted.”

The high school graduation exam has ended, many candidates who did well on the test can think about getting into their dream university. On the other hand, with results that are not as expected, candidates have to reconsider their original university application plans. If the test results are not positive but the original application plan is still the same, the risk is very high.
Le Huyen Trang, a student at Ngo Quyen High School (Bien Hoa City), said that before the exam, she researched many university admission options but did not "finalize" any option in advance to reduce pressure on herself. After the exam, in the admission group B (Math, Chemistry, Biology), Huyen Trang felt confident enough to register for Pham Ngoc Thach University of Medicine. In addition, Huyen Trang will register for an additional backup option at Ho Chi Minh City University of Agriculture and Forestry so that if she does not pass this school, she will still have a chance to enter another school.
Although the high school graduation exam scores have not been announced as the basis for graduation and university admission, many candidates already know in advance what their scores will be and which top schools they will be admitted to.
Huynh Manh Dung (Long Thanh High School, Long Thanh District) said that his first goal is to graduate from high school, which is certainly not difficult. As for university admission, he has already assessed his ability. He plans to apply for university admission based on his high school transcript instead of using his graduation exam score.
* Must complete the selection process
According to the data of candidates registering for the high school graduation exam sent by the Ministry of Education and Training to the Dong Nai Department of Education and Training, out of over 33,200 candidates in the province registering for the high school graduation exam, 31,600 candidates have both goals: to graduate from high school and to apply for admission to colleges and universities. Only 321 candidates took the exam with the main goal of graduation. In addition, there are 749 candidates who graduated from high school in previous years, participating in this year's high school graduation exam to apply for admission to universities.
Deputy Director of the Department of Education and Training Vo Ngoc Thach said that university admissions are becoming more and more “open”, which means opening up more opportunities for candidates to choose their path to university. Many schools consider admission based on competency assessment test scores, high school transcripts, graduation exam scores, etc. Some schools even consider admission based on one of the above methods, but also require international language certificates.
Regardless of the admission method, according to Deputy Director of the Department of Education and Training Vo Ngoc Thach, candidates must calculate and consider carefully. First, the candidate must like the major, and whether the score is enough to pass or not, to avoid the case of candidates using "eggs to hit rocks", the risk of failure is very high. In addition, candidates need to consider the tuition fees of the schools to suit the economic conditions of their families. Because it is expected that in the upcoming school year, tuition fees at many universities will increase sharply.
Candidates who have registered for university admission should pay attention to important deadlines in the coming time, including those who have been admitted through early admission. Accordingly, candidates should pay attention to the announcement of the 2023 high school graduation exam scores on July 18. If they have any questions about the results, they can submit a request for review. Candidates can register, adjust their wishes and pay the admission fee online on the Ministry of Education and Training's system. Candidates who have been admitted through early admission must still register and pay the fee on the Ministry of Education and Training's system.
