According to VietNamNet , a Kentucky man admitted to illegally accessing an online death registration system and faking his own death to avoid paying more than $100,000 in child support to his ex-wife.
Oddity Central reports that Jesse Kipf, 39, admitted to accessing the death registration system in Hawaii using login information he stole from a doctor in the same state last January. According to investigators, the man created and assigned a file to himself in the system and impersonated the doctor to confirm that he was dead.
According to the plea agreement: “Kipf completed a Hawaii State Certificate of Death, and then, on January 21, 2023, defendant identified himself as the medical certifier for that document. He used the physician’s electronic signature and provided his name, title, and license number. As a result, defendant was registered as deceased in multiple government databases.”

Court documents show that Kipf also illegally accessed various websites operated by the states of Arizona, Vermont, and the websites of GuestTek Interactive Entertainment and Milestone, Inc, resulting in him being listed as deceased in several government databases.
In his plea, the defendant stated that he committed the crime in part to avoid paying child support to his ex-wife.
Worse still, Jesse Kipf used the stolen information to hack into private and government computer networks and tried to sell access to other online buyers. On March 29, the 39-year-old pleaded guilty to wire fraud and aggravated identity theft.
Kipf now owes his ex-wife about $116,000, along with $200,000 to businesses and government agencies he hacked.
In addition, he faces a maximum sentence of seven years in prison and a fine of up to $500,000.
