Blood donation connects the bridge of sharing between Vietnam and Thailand

On July 20, the Thai Consulate General in Ho Chi Minh City, in collaboration with the Vietnam Red Cross Society and the Red Journey Program, organized a humanitarian blood donation program. The activity not only contributed to supplementing the blood supply for treatment, but also provided an opportunity for the Thai and Vietnamese communities to spread the spirit of humanity, build a bridge of sharing and foster friendly relations between the two countries.

The program is part of a series of volunteer activities "Good deeds from the heart" - a practical initiative to arouse the spirit of sharing in the community and contribute to strengthening the Vietnam - Thailand friendship, towards the 49th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between the two countries (August 6, 1976 - August 6, 2025).

The event was attended by representatives of the following agencies: Ho Chi Minh City Department of Foreign Affairs, Ho Chi Minh City Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee, Vietnam Red Cross Society , Ho Chi Minh City Youth Union, Ho Chi Minh City Union of Friendship Organizations, Ho Chi Minh City Vietnam - ASEAN Friendship Association, Ho Chi Minh City Vietnam - Thailand Friendship Association and Thai Chamber of Commerce and Industry in Vietnam.

According to Vietnam News Agency, at the program, Ms. Wiraka Moodhitaporn, Consul General of Thailand in Ho Chi Minh City, said: “Today's activity is a testament to the strong friendship between Thailand and Vietnam - not only at the government level but also at the community level. The kindness and spirit of cooperation between the two peoples will continue to be a solid foundation for the enhanced strategic partnership between the two countries."

On this occasion, the Thai Consulate General also donated an oxygen generator and nearly VND19 million to the Ho Chi Minh City Red Cross Society and the Red Journey Program to support volunteer activities in the community.

According to Mr. Nguyen Tuan Khoi, Deputy Head of the Organizing Committee of the Central Red Journey Program, this blood donation campaign took place at a time when many localities were seriously lacking blood for emergency and treatment purposes, showing that the support from the international community is very valuable and timely.

Blood donors receive medical care and gifts from the Vietnam Red Cross Society and Thai and Vietnamese businesses.

The humanitarian blood donation activity is part of the “Good deeds from the heart” program series held annually, aiming to create opportunities for the Thai community in Ho Chi Minh City and the Vietnamese people to join hands to spread good deeds, thereby contributing to fostering friendship between the two countries.
