Changing the face of the countryside

The vitality of the movement to join hands in building new rural areas contributes to changing the face of Hieu Phung commune.

With the solidarity and unity of Party committees, authorities at all levels and the consensus of the people, Hieu Phung commune has been given a new look, creating progress in socio -economic development. Over the past 5 years, Hieu Phung commune has actively coordinated to organize propaganda and mobilize people to improve the quality and maintain 19 criteria for building a new rural area. Every year, the commune improves the quality of 2 or more criteria. From there, it has successfully implemented the breakthrough of "maintaining and improving the quality of the commune to meet the new rural standards" in the 2020-2025 term.

In particular, implementing the policy of restructuring agricultural production in the commune, farmers have been mobilized to build economic models such as converting ineffective rice land to crops such as oranges, jackfruits, kumquats; organic coconut model meeting Organic standards with an area of 125 hectares; strongly developing cattle breeding... From there, converting crops and livestock suitable to the actual situation of the commune has contributed to increasing the average income per capita to more than 59 million VND/person/year, reducing 120 poor households.

Visiting Hieu Thuan Organic Village Cooperative, the positive signals from this type of clean agriculture have initially brought a stable source of income from coconut, orange, vegetable gardens, etc. for the people. With 1 hectare of intercropping organic vegetables, Mr. Le Quang Trai said: “I have been growing vegetables for 7-8 years now.

Production all year round, stable output. After deducting expenses, the profit is about 12 million VND/acre each year". Not only is he well-off from vegetables, Mr. Trai also creates regular jobs for 15 local workers. Sharing his joy at the change in his hometown, Mr. Trai said: "When implementing the construction of the new rural area, our people benefit mainly from the projects and social welfare. Income also increases, everyone is excited".

One of the highlights that creates a positive change in the construction of the new rural areas is the flower roads that are planted, cared for and blooming. To contribute to maintaining the flower roads and building a bright, green, clean and beautiful landscape, it is thanks to the support of local people in planting and caring for flowers. While taking care of the row of brilliant white and royal poinciana flowers planted in front of her house, Ms. Nguyen Thi Dam (Ngai Thanh hamlet) happily said: “The two rows of flowers in this section were planted and cared for by my family and the surrounding people. Each person weeds, trims branches, and waters the flowers to help them grow well. When the roads are beautiful, our people are excited.”

The spacious houses are gradually springing up, replacing temporary, dilapidated houses, contributing to the change in the appearance of the countryside to be more beautiful, demonstrating the local government's concern for improving people's lives. Supported with 60 million VND to build a charity house, Ms. Nguyen Thi Nhanh (Ngai Thanh hamlet) could not hide her emotion: "I am so happy to have a new house! Thank you to the Party and State for their attention and the locality for their support that my family has a solid house."

Seeing the students and local people struggling to go to school every day, transporting goods, and traveling on the seriously degraded and difficult-to-travel road in the hamlet, Mr. Vo Ba Tong "took the lead" in mobilizing people to contribute money and effort to repair the road. Mr. Tong shared: "As a party member and retired cadre, I actively mobilized people to join hands and contribute money and effort to build the road, so that together with the locality, we can build the face of our homeland to develop more and more". With more than 40 million VND mobilized, the road over 1km long has been paved with stone, bringing joy to 70 households directly living in the area.

Striving for the goal of advanced new rural areas

Organic fruit and vegetable gardens contribute to increasing income for farmers.

After reaching the NTM finish line in 2024, especially with the new context after the merger, Hieu Phung commune is determined to continue improving the criteria to create momentum for the implementation of advanced NTM construction in the next phase.

Deeply aware of the importance of building new rural areas, in recent years, the Vietnam Fatherland Front Committees at all levels have identified the top priority task as propaganda and mobilization so that people clearly understand and trust the Party's guidelines and policies, the State's policies and laws on building new rural areas. From there, effectively implement campaigns and movements to encourage people to join hands in building new rural areas.

Notably, the organization and implementation of the Movement "All people unite to build a cultural life in residential areas" has so far promoted the strength of the great national solidarity bloc. People's lives have been gradually improved. Basic infrastructure has been completed. Currently, the commune has 20/20 residential areas meeting cultural standards; 100% of households have achieved the cultural title.

To implement the solution to maintain cultural households and cultural residential areas, contributing to achieving the advanced NTM commune in the 2025-2030 term, "Assigning dedicated, capable and capable cadres to support the responsibility of residential areas, in carrying out local political tasks, it is necessary to integrate the Movement of All People Uniting to Build Cultural Life in Residential Areas with the movement to build NTM - civilized urban areas and other movements for implementation. From there, creating a combined strength to make the quality and effectiveness of the movement increasingly high" - Mr. Pham Nhat Tien - Chairman of the Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee of the commune proposed.

Ms. Huynh Thi Nhanh - Secretary of the Party Committee of Hieu Phung commune emphasized that in the 2020-2025 term, Hieu Phung will focus on mobilizing all resources to invest in building agricultural, rural and digital infrastructure. Synchronously implementing solutions for socio-economic development, ensuring national defense and security and building a clean and strong political system, building a commune that develops rapidly and sustainably, striving to achieve the advanced NTM standards by 2030.
