Sabeco General Director: “150 years of development thanks to strong will”

(Dan Tri) - Sabeco has just celebrated its 150th anniversary in Vietnam. General Director Lester Tan said that focusing on product quality, making beer that suits Vietnamese tastes, and sticking to the goal of sustainable development (ESG) helps the company maintain its leading position.

2025 has special significance for Saigon Beer - Alcohol - Beverage Corporation ( Sabeco ), as it marks 150 years of association with the formation and development of the Vietnamese beer industry.

Originating in 1875 at a small ice factory serving the thirst of Southern Vietnam, Sabeco has gradually grown and become a symbol of the Vietnamese beer industry. According to General Director Lester Tan, this result comes from the tireless efforts of generations of leaders and staff, the strong will to face all difficulties and try to find "opportunities" in "challenges" to turn the tide.

“Sabeco has gone through many stages of the country’s development, witnessed many changes, but its operating principle has not changed, which is to make quality products for Vietnamese people, for Vietnamese people, by Vietnamese people,” Mr. Lester Tan shared and emphasized that thanks to the resilient spirit, the whole team has built together, overcome difficulties from natural disasters, fluctuations and challenges.

150 years of development, but that journey is not just about beer. According to Mr. Lester Tan, success is not only measured by profit, but also by the value that Sabeco brings to the community, from the street lighting system to brighten up the countryside, to the support for border guards and their families during Tet.

The biggest challenges today are fierce competition, unpredictable world changes and changing consumer tastes. To solve this problem, Sabeco continues to invest in technology, production processes, creating quality products, according to international standards, suitable for Vietnamese tastes. “Quality, heritage, innovation - the foundation that helps Sabeco achieve today's achievements, continue to be the guiding principle in the next stages of development”, said Sabeco's leader.

Celebrating the 150th anniversary of the formation and development of the Vietnamese beer industry, Sabeco launched the campaign “150 years of heritage rising high”, with many inspirational activities. The highlight is the initiative “Heritage Journey”, lasting for 2 months, passing through 9 provinces and cities, spreading the story of Sabeco’s 150 years of heritage closer to everyone.

The series of events "Heritage Night" was held in Ho Chi Minh City, Vinh Long, Khanh Hoa, Dak Lak, Hanoi , with cultural and entertainment activities, experiencing the exhibition space of Sabeco's development journey and community projects.

In addition, Sabeco accompanied the Central Committee of the Vietnam Fatherland Front to organize the "Honoring the Torchbearers" award to honor 150 silent heroes across the country, ordinary people who have made and are making positive contributions to the development of Vietnam, while clearly demonstrating the spirit of resilience, solidarity, and aspiration for progress.
