After more than 20 years of investment, the scenic complex of Phoenix Cave - Mo Ga Stream (Vo Nhai commune) has become an attractive eco -tourism destination for many visitors.
Inevitable trend
In recent years, green tourism has become a strong development trend in many provinces and cities across the country, including Thai Nguyen . This type of tourism attracts the attention of tourists and attracts businesses and communities to invest.
| Mr. Nguyen Van Ngoc, Deputy Director of Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism: Developing green tourism is an urgent requirement and also an important strategic orientation, a path towards sustainable development of Vietnam's tourism industry in general and Thai Nguyen in particular, in line with the current trend of climate change adaptation. |
In recent years, awareness of green tourism development in Thai Nguyen has had many positive changes. This is considered the right direction of local authorities and investors in the process of exploiting mountain tourism resources, eco-tourism associated with sustainable development.
Thai Nguyen is considered a province with great potential for green tourism development, with places associated with historical achievements such as: ATK Dinh Hoa Special National Relic Site; Memorial Site of 60 martyrs of the 915th Youth Volunteer Company, 91st Team of Bac Thai; 27-7 National Relic Site... destinations converging historical values, landscapes and cultures typical of the Viet Bac region.

Besides the system of revolutionary historical relics, Thai Nguyen also possesses many unique natural landscapes, which are valuable “green resources” for developing eco-tourism and resorts. Notable is Nui Coc Lake - the tourism symbol of the province, where the charming landscape of mountains and rivers associated with the legend of Cong and Coc; Seven-storey waterfall in Than Sa, Phuong Hoang cave - Mo Ga stream (Vo Nhai) ... All create a diverse ecological picture, both pristine and attractive to tourists.
Along with natural attractions, many private tourism and community tourism models have been and are being effectively promoted, contributing to enriching the province's tourism products. We can mention Dung Tan Trade and Tourism Center, which combines green spaces, miniature landscapes, modern entertainment areas with experiential activities; or community tourism spots in the communes of the eastern slopes of Tam Dao and Tan Cuong communes, where tourists can visit tea areas and experience local culture.
In addition, the system of restaurants, hotels and supermarkets is developing in harmony with local identity, gradually forming a chain of quality services, aiming to make tourism a spearhead economic sector.
One of the typical models is the Thai Hai Ethnic Ecological Stilt House Village Conservation Area (My Hao hamlet, Tan Cuong commune), a favorite destination for many domestic and foreign tourists. Started in 2002 with an area of over 70 hectares, this place currently has nearly 30 ancient stilt houses of the Tay people, restored in the traditional "xuyen toang - tu tru" architecture, located in the middle of a green forest, creating a peaceful space, imbued with cultural imprints.

Thai Hai Ethnic Ecological Stilt House Village Conservation Area (in My Hao hamlet, Tan Cuong commune) actively participates in promoting and introducing the image of Thai Nguyen tourism to domestic and foreign tourists.
Here, the tangible and intangible heritage values of the Tay people are preserved and vividly reproduced. Visitors can visit stilt houses, experience customs, costumes, musical instruments, and enjoy traditional cuisine such as bamboo-tube rice, sour meat, and leaf-fermented wine.
Ms. Nguyen Thi Thi, a tourist from Hanoi, shared: Coming to Thai Hai, I felt like I was reliving the old memories of the midlands. Seeing the rice mill, pounding rice with water, and seeing the Tay girls busy in their traditional costumes, I was really impressed and relaxed.
Not only Thai Hai, Thai Nguyen also has many attractive green tourism destinations such as Phuong Hoang Tourist Area (Vo Nhai), Kem (La Bang), or the specialty tea regions of Tan Cuong, Khe Coc, Trai Cai. However, in general, the province's potential has not been exploited adequately.
Tourism products are still monotonous, lacking large-scale highlights, and have not yet formed a green tourism value chain at the regional level. This is both a challenge and a driving force for Thai Nguyen to continue orienting the development of sustainable, environmentally friendly and culturally rich tourism in the coming time.
Focused investment
In fact, green tourism is a type of tourism based on nature and culture, associated with environmental education, contributing to conservation and sustainable development, while attracting active participation of the community.

To develop this type of tourism in a synchronous manner, Thai Nguyen needs to focus on promoting and raising awareness among people, businesses and tourists about the meaning and benefits of green tourism for the environment and social life. In the journey towards sustainable development, the province focuses on exploiting natural and cultural strengths, focusing on developing eco-tourism, community tourism and experiences associated with nature.
First of all, it is necessary to promote the potential of Than Sa - Phuong Hoang Nature Reserve, which has a rich primeval forest ecosystem, along with majestic caves and waterfalls. Along with that, it is necessary to develop eco-tourism routes along the Tam Dao range, exploiting the natural landscape and fresh air at places such as Kem stream, Vai Mieu lake, creating typical tourism products of the Northern midland and mountainous region.
Another direction with many advantages is agricultural tourism - craft village tourism, especially in the tea regions of Tan Cuong, La Bang, Dong Hy, where you can organize activities to experience tea picking, tea drying, tea processing and tea tasting. This is not only an attractive product for tourists but also contributes to promoting the brand "The first famous tea of Thai Nguyen", linking tourism development with enhancing the value of local agricultural products.
Along with that, it is necessary to continue investing in developing community tourism models in ethnic villages, in which Thai Hai Community Tourism Village is an important highlight, both preserving traditional cultural identity and creating jobs and stable income for people. The formation of similar models in Vo Nhai, Dinh Hoa, Dai Tu... will create a network of linked destinations, expanding green tourism space throughout the province.

Many beautiful tea regions of Thai Nguyen have become attractive destinations, suitable for developing eco-tourism and experiencing green agriculture.
Mr. Vu Van Hoai, a tourist from Ho Chi Minh City, said: Thai Nguyen should combine the development of green tourism with cultural and spiritual tourism, because the province currently has Truc Lam Tay Truc Zen Monastery (Quan Chu commune) and many historical and cultural relics located at the foot of Tam Dao mountain range, which can become a point of intersection between natural landscape and cultural and spiritual space.
Towards green tourism, the key task of Thai Nguyen in the coming time is to preserve and promote the cultural identity of ethnic groups, at the same time invest in infrastructure, upgrade facilities for tourism. There should be policies to encourage “green” development in tourism services, such as applying solar energy, using natural materials, recycling, treating waste and wastewater, and programs to preserve and teach folk culture.
In addition, the province needs to link the construction of new rural areas with the development of green tourism, considering this a two-way solution. In particular, new rural areas create infrastructure and landscape; green tourism contributes to improving income and spiritual life for people. Local authorities, businesses and communities need to increase investment, promote and promote green tourism, at the same time improve service quality, train human resources, and form a professional and friendly service style.
Only when solutions are implemented synchronously and with focus, can Thai Nguyen turn potential into advantages, turn advantages into brands, and make green tourism a typical, sustainable development direction with the strong identity of the land of "The Windy Capital".
