Governor General of Australia Sam Mostyn and Mr. Simeon Beckett - the Governor General's husband are visiting Vietnam. This morning, the Governor General and his husband went for a walk to see Hoan Kiem Lake and historical sites in Hanoi .

Hanoi in the fresh, cool early autumn morning, the Governor General and his husband joined in the morning life with the people of the capital.

Along the streets of Ngo Quyen, Le Thach, Dinh Tien Hoang, the Australian Governor-General and her husband looked at the Hanoi People's Committee headquarters, Turtle Tower, The Huc Bridge, and Ngoc Son Temple. Occasionally, she stopped to take out her phone to record the scenery and activities of the people. She also happily took pictures with the people.

The Governor and his husband walked for about 30 minutes, then returned to the hotel to prepare to fly to Ho Chi Minh City.

Before assuming the position of Governor-General of Australia, Ms Sam Mostyn had a long history of executive and management positions in various fields such as business, sport, climate change, arts, policy and non-profit sectors.

Ms Mostyn was a commissioner of Football Federation Australia for more than a decade until 2017.

She is also a strong advocate for women's participation in sport and was instrumental in the establishment of Football Federation Australia's Women's Football League and co-founded the Minerva Network, Australia's only development and mentoring program for professional female athletes.

Ms Mostyn is a Sydney Swans fan and served on the board from 2017-2024.
