On the afternoon of May 7, due to the influence of the northeast monsoon, the tide along the coast of Hai Tien (Hoang Hoa district, Thanh Hoa province) rose high, causing the entire concrete base of the five "giant" hands along Hai Tien beach to be submerged in water.

At this time, there is no one standing on the hut (the hands) to guard the tourists bathing. Meanwhile, these "giant" hands are crowded with tourists going up and down to play and climb. The entire base is still under water.
This is something that many locals and tourists have been worried about before, because these "giant" hands have a very large concrete base, in addition to taking up space on the beach, it also poses a potential safety risk to visitors when the sea level rises. At this time, almost the entire base of the arms will be submerged in water, many people who do not know will be injured when approaching.

On the afternoon of May 7, a young tourist suffered a very long scratch on his back while climbing up to the area of giant hands to play and swim in the sea.
As reported by Nguoi Lao Dong Newspaper, after the "giant" hands along the Hai Tien coast were built, there was a lot of controversy. Many people thought that this was an effort to create a highlight for the beach, but many people commented that in general it looked a bit out of place, monotonous, and inappropriate. In particular, these 5 "giant" hands have very large bases. On summer days, when the sea level rises close to the embankment, the concrete bases are submerged deep in the water, causing swimmers to accidentally bump into them, causing danger.

When the tide rises close to the embankment, Hai Tien beach is covered with water, the pedestals of the 5 "giant" hands along the coast are also submerged in water.
There are no guards on the watchtowers, while these watchtowers have become places for tourists to climb and play.
The concrete bases with exposed screws were previously fenced off, but when the tide rose, everything was washed away, leaving tourists to enjoy themselves without knowing.

Not a scenic spot so no permission required
According to the report of Hoang Hoa District People's Committee, the 5 "giant" hands along the coast are observation points, warning tourists about swimming in the sea, part of the project to create a landscape for the walking area along Hai Tien beach from the wharf area to Hoang Thanh boat station. The project has a total investment of 10 billion VND, from the state budget and other mobilized sources.
The observation points and warnings for tourists to swim in the sea have arm-shaped architecture, not sculptures; at the same time, Hai Tien beach is not a scenic relic, so the construction of the above works is not subject to consultation and agreement with cultural management agencies.
