Coach Mai Duc Chung was moved by the Prime Minister's sentiment: Vietnam women's team determined to defeat Thailand

On the afternoon of August 18, the Vietnamese women's team had their final training session at the 2025 Southeast Asian Women's Football Championship (AFF Women's Cup), preparing for the third-place match against the Thai women's team at 4:30 p.m. on August 19.

Speaking before the training session, coach Mai Duc Chung shared: "Perhaps everyone watching the semi-final match live felt quite regretful. The Vietnamese women's team played at 150% of their strength, but the opponent was too strong. Although we played better in the second half, football is like that. We have high determination but it depends on many other aspects.

The Vietnamese women's team still has a third-place match. Before the training session, I also reminded the whole team to focus on activities and practice well for the third-place match. Hopefully, everyone will fight with the highest spirit to celebrate the two great holidays of the country."

In addition, Coach Mai Duc Chung also sent his thanks to the Party and State leaders and fans who have always accompanied the Vietnamese women's football team. "What touched us was that despite his busy schedule, the Prime Minister was still present at Lach Tray Stadium and encouraged us. We are very grateful and would like to thank the Party and State. The Vietnamese women's team promises to play at more than 100% of their ability to win," Mr. Chung expressed.

Evaluating the opponent Thailand, the team that Vietnam defeated in the group stage, coach Mai Duc Chung said that we cannot be subjective: "We need to be confident, but we must learn from the mistakes in previous matches. We have pointed out the strengths and weaknesses of the Vietnamese female players and hope that in the third-place match we will limit mistakes and continue to win against Thailand."
