Coach Park Hang Seo almost broke his contract with the Vietnam national team

The head of Malaysian football revealed that he had negotiated with coach Park Hang Seo in 2022, when the Korean strategist only had one year left on his contract with the Vietnamese team.

Coach Park Hang Seo is one of the strong candidates to take over the hot seat of the Malaysian team. President Hamidin Mohd Amin is confident that he can convince the Korean coach to join the team.

Mr. Hamidin Mohd Amin said: "I can share that Coach Park Hang Seo almost moved to work in Malaysia. He expressed his willingness to break his contract with the Vietnam national team. He wanted to go to Malaysia and coach naturalized players.

Mr. Park said that the Malaysian team has many talented naturalized players such as Corbin Ong and Mohamadou Sumareh. Although he helped the Vietnamese team win against Malaysia, he still wants to come here to work."

However, after interviewing candidates for the national team head coach position, the Football Association of Malaysia chose another Korean coach, Kim Pan Gon. However, they were satisfied with this choice as the Malaysian team improved under Kim Pan Gon's leadership.

Under this coach, the Malaysian team jumped from 157th to 130th in the world . They qualified for the 2023 Asian Cup and won two matches in the second round of qualifying for the 2026 World Cup.

Meanwhile, Coach Park Hang Seo has not yet decided which team he will join after leaving the Vietnam national team. He has received many invitations from Southeast Asia but has not made a final decision.
