The Football Association of Malaysia (FAM) confirmed that coach Park Hang-seo is one of the candidates to lead the Malaysian team at the AFF Cup 2024.
Will coach Park Hang-seo lead the Malaysian team?

After parting ways with coach Kim Pan-gon last month, FAM is looking for a new coach for the 2024 AFF Cup, with coach Park Hang-seo being one of the candidates. This information has been confirmed by FAM, along with the fact that Mr. Park has submitted his application to lead the team nicknamed Harimau Malaya (Malaysian Tiger). This is not the first time coach Park Hang-seo has been linked with the Malaysian team. Previously, in mid-July, coach Kim Pan-gon had a messy farewell, citing personal health reasons, but FAM later discovered that this coach had returned to Korea to negotiate with Ulsan Hyundai Motors Club.
Mr. Park will join the Malaysian team to face the Vietnamese team.
INDEPENDENCE
Since leaving the Vietnam national team, coach Park Hang-seo has not led any other team but has only been an advisor to the Bac Ninh club, which is playing in the national second division. From 2022 to now, there has been a lot of information about Mr. Park being linked with many teams, including the Malaysian and Chinese teams, but all of them have stopped at the level of rumors. The story of Mr. Kim Pan-gon's "dishonest" departure may affect FAM's sympathy for Korean coaches, but FAM President Hamidin Mohd Amin himself frankly admitted that Mr. Kim had a good record when helping the Malaysian team climb from 158th to 134th place on the FIFA rankings.
