In just three months since taking charge, Renato Gaucho has transformed a team once struggling with relegation into a global sensation. Under the 61-year-old's guidance, Fluminense advanced to the FIFA Club World Cup and were given rapturous applause from fans.
"I hope not only the world, but also Brazil itself, will look at Brazilian coaches in a different way and appreciate them a little more," coach Renato shared after the match.
“I am not against foreign coaches. But people keep talking about them, while almost no one pays attention to local coaches. This tournament has shown that we can also do great things. And I hope that recognition will continue."

As someone who has repeatedly spoken out against the influx of foreign coaches into Brazilian clubs, Renato Gaucho now has even more reason to assert his point of view.
Having helped Fluminense win the Rio state championship in 1995 as a player, he is now hailed as the club's reincarnation, a model of homegrown coaching talent that has been underrated for years.
