Hoa Lu launched a campaign to respond to the Month of Action against Drugs

On June 26, Hoa Lu District People's Committee organized a launching ceremony to respond to the Month of Action for Drug Prevention and Control and the National Day for Drug Prevention and Control in 2023 at Ninh My Secondary School.

In recent times, the work of drug prevention and control in Hoa Lu district has always been focused on and directed by Party committees and authorities at all levels. Units and localities regularly promote propaganda and mobilize the entire population to participate in drug prevention and control, helping cadres, students and people of all walks of life understand the consequences and harms of drugs, proactively manage and educate their children and relatives not to get involved in drug abuse and participate in detecting and denouncing drug crimes, helping, reforming and detoxifying drug addicts. At the same time, organize campaigns to attack and suppress crimes associated with peak periods of drug prevention and control. In 2022 and the first 6 months of 2023, Hoa Lu District Police discovered and arrested 155 cases, 214 subjects violating drug laws, seized 2.03 grams of heroin and 200 grams of synthetic drugs, of which: 34 cases, 52 defendants were criminally prosecuted; 121 cases, 162 subjects were administratively prosecuted.

However, the number of drug addicts in the area is still high. Alarmingly, the use of synthetic drugs among young people is increasing; the effectiveness of drug prevention and control propaganda and post-rehabilitation drug addict management has not met the requirements; the number of crimes committed by drug addicts is still high, and their methods of operation are increasingly dangerous.

The theme of this year's Action Month for Drug Prevention and Control is: "Resolutely and effectively preventing and combating drugs, enhancing responsibility, proactively coordinating - For a drug-free community." This is a message for Party committees, authorities, agencies, departments, sectors, organizations and all people to enhance their responsibility in synchronously and resolutely implementing measures in the fight against drugs.

To successfully carry out the goals and tasks of preventing and combating crimes and drug abuse, at the launching ceremony, the Chairman of the People's Committee of Hoa Lu district requested the Party committees, authorities and sectors and organizations from the district to the grassroots level to continue to focus on directing the comprehensive and effective implementation of the task of preventing and combating drugs in 2023. At the same time, he called on sectors, agencies, units, communes, towns and all people to join hands in the fight against and denounce acts of illegal production, trading, transportation, storage and use of drugs, for a drug-free community, for a bright future and a sustainable society. Hoa Lu district strives to push back drug abuse, and have an increasingly civilized and progressive cultural and spiritual life.
