On May 6, the Hue Monuments Conservation Center sent an apology to residents and tourists through its official Fanpage regarding the cannon fire display on the evening of May 3.

According to the Hue Monuments Conservation Center, a technical incident occurred during the fireworks display at the Flag Tower on the evening of May 3, affecting the safety of some locals, tourists and families watching in the Phu Van Lau area.

The Hue Monuments Conservation Center apologizes and hopes to receive deep sympathy from the families of the affected residents and tourists.

Previously, social networks spread many videos about fireworks during the cannon show at Hue's Imperial Citadel on the evening of May 3 falling into the audience area.

According to the video recording, during the process, some fireworks after being fired from the cannon fell in the area in front of the Flag Tower (on Le Duan Street). At that time, this location was crowded with people watching, the incident caused many people to panic.

The Hue Monuments Conservation Center said that the research unit reorganized the cannon firing simulation activity on the Flag Tower with the desire to bring new and attractive experiences to serve the people and tourists. The old oil-spraying cannon system was replaced with a new type of cannon, more environmentally friendly, no dust and smoke, and a fresh space for the audience.

However, the process encountered some unexpected technical problems such as the installation of the fireworks equipment a day in advance, causing the fireworks to get damp and not burn completely when falling, affecting the quality of the fireworks when fired. In addition, the calculation of the firing range and the area where visitors can watch were also inaccurate.
