Speaking at the ceremony on December 21, Permanent Vice Chairman of the People's Committee of Thua Thien - Hue Province Nguyen Thanh Binh said that the project's completion and operation is a symbol of solidarity between the two localities to jointly preserve and promote heritage. At the same time, it creates a typical model of cooperation in preserving cultural heritage with potential for regional connectivity and can become a "gold mine" for exploiting tourism resources if managed and exploited scientifically and effectively.
According to Vice Chairwoman of Da Nang City People's Committee Nguyen Thi Anh Thi, since ancient times, Hai Van Quan has been known as "The most majestic pass in the world" with its spectacular natural beauty as well as its important military strategic position. Today, the value of Hai Van Quan relic has been recognized and evaluated by the authorities of Da Nang City and Thua Thien - Hue Province as a unique tourism resource with regional connectivity, a "golden goose" if managed and exploited seriously and systematically. Therefore, the two localities have worked together to revive this area by ranking and implementing the project to restore and renovate Hai Van Quan relic.
In the coming time, the two localities will implement plans and projects to manage, protect and promote this relic in conjunction with the historical and cultural relics of the Nguyen Dynasty. Thereby, Hai Van Pass tourism will truly make a positive contribution to the socio -economic development of the two localities, becoming an indispensable stop for tourists on the "Central Heritage Road".
Currently, Thua Thien - Hue province and Da Nang city are increasing investment in infrastructure, promoting the application of smart technology, digital transformation such as deploying technology applications (3D), free Wifi coverage at tourist attractions to support visitors to learn more about heritage values, promptly update existing services and utilities during their journey to visit Hai Van Quan national relic. At the same time, deploying auxiliary items, especially service logistics areas such as: parking lots, standard public toilets and souvenir display spaces for visitors...
Hai Van Quan relic was built in the 7th year of Minh Mang (1826) at an altitude of about 490 m above sea level, belonging to the Bach Ma - Hai Van mountain range. This is a military citadel architectural work, one of the most majestic passes in Vietnam. Hai Van Quan relic is located in Lang Co town (Phu Loc district, Thua Thien - Hue province) and Hoa Hiep Bac ward (Lien Chieu district, Da Nang city); about 90 km north of Hue city center, about 28 km south of Da Nang city center. With its unique historical and architectural values, on July 14, 2017, Hai Van Quan was ranked as a National Historical and Architectural Relic by the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism.
Having gone through many historical changes, Hai Van Quan has been a “witness” to many fierce battles in the nation’s war to defend its homeland. Hai Van Quan has also been affected by harsh climates, causing the system of structures to seriously deteriorate.
Started on December 19, 2021, the project "Preservation, restoration and promotion of the value of Hai Van Quan relic" has a total investment of more than 42 billion VND, each locality contributes 50% from the budget. In this restoration, the project focuses on the overall restoration of all architectural works at Hai Van Quan.
