On the morning of July 28, according to information from the 18th Army Corps ( Ministry of National Defense ), early in the morning of the same day, EC225 helicopter with registration number VN-8618 of the Southern Helicopter Company (18th Army Corps) successfully performed an emergency flight to bring a soldier being treated at the Truong Sa Island Infirmary (Truong Sa Special Zone, Khanh Hoa Province) to the mainland for emergency treatment.
The patient is a PLTL soldier, born in 2000, on duty on Truong Sa Island, receiving emergency treatment at the Truong Sa Lon Island Infirmary; diagnosed with septic shock, sepsis of unknown cause, suspected of central nervous system infection, beyond the capacity of Truong Sa Island's military medical staff, and needs to be urgently transferred to the mainland for further intensive treatment.
Receiving orders from superiors to use helicopters to rescue soldiers to Military Hospital 175 for treatment, the Southern Helicopter Company quickly deployed a combat-ready flight crew to carry out the rescue mission using EC225 helicopters - specialized aircraft capable of long-distance flights and responding well to complex sea weather conditions.
At around 9:30 p.m. on July 27, the helicopter took off from Vung Tau airport to Tan Son Nhat airport to pick up the medical team from Military Hospital 175, then flew to Truong Sa island to pick up the patient. Immediately after receiving the patient from Truong Sa island infirmary, the flight crew and the medical team urgently brought the patient back to the mainland.
At 5:11 a.m. on July 28, the helicopter landed safely on the helipad of Military Hospital 175. Immediately afterwards, medical staff received and quickly brought the patient in for monitoring and treatment.
This is one of many special flights demonstrating the high combat readiness and will to "Serve the people" of air force soldiers in peacetime.
The smooth coordination between forces and the bravery and expertise of the flight crew have contributed to affirming the role of the Southern Helicopter Company, Army Corps 18 in effectively performing military and defense missions, emergency flights, rescue, and relief, contributing to protecting the sacred sovereignty of the sea and islands of the Fatherland.
Previously, at around 10:00 a.m. on July 27, Truong Sa Island Infirmary received a patient with PLTL, rank of Sergeant, position of Battery Captain; diagnosed with blood infection, severe prognosis.
The patient is awake and has been monitored and treated on the island. The Navy has requested the Military Medical Department (General Department of Logistics and Engineering) to report to the Head of the Ministry of National Defense to mobilize a plane to bring the patient to the mainland for treatment.
